You've seen these gimmicks in other games, so it's ultimately a familiar grammar involving water, gravity, light beams, and so forth. The charm comes from the execution and the funky artwork.
This game feels like shadow complex, but with a flying saucer strapped with deadly weapons; so I loved it. giant map to explore with markers set for upgrades/hidden movies/concept art/new weaponsuseful gagets. If Limbo and shadow complex had a baby it would be named Insanely twisted shadow planet. Each section of the innerplanetary body/map has cool and challenging bosses, and enemies feel strangely lifelike. The game is a download for 15 bucks and that is a deal for a game like this. it's a thinker sometimes as well, so have fun.
I'm big on casual games. I love Michel Gagne's art. So this is a no-brainer. The art is lush, the animation fluid and the soundtrack engaging. The gameplay is nothing short of enjoyable. Easy to understand without endless instruction screens or help menus. Simple, clean and FUN. I highly recommend this!
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is a great platformer / twin stick shooter hybrid game that I can safely recommend to anyone who has a fine appreciation for great artistic design and competent gameplay design.
And while some nagging design annoyances and control issues permeate the game, its incredible, whacked-out art style does a lot to carry the experience.
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet offers some fun puzzles and way too easy bosses. Its unique art style definitely makes it worth playing but the familiar gameplay, as seen in dozens of older games, disable the game from being something truly special.
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is a puzzle-arcade game with some shooting elements and as such is a job well done. It satisfies but does not enchant. It seems that the game would be better if the developers focused more either on the puzzle side or on the shooting side. The game's strongest moments are its looks and boss fights but you need to remember that a trip to this interesting world won't last longer than one afternoon.
The fusing of puzzles, Metroidvania and a the film noir aesthics create a very alien, yet familiar world to travel in. It becomes a bit boring in places, but overall the journey is a fascinating one.
I'm surprised at the scores this game is getting from critics. I expected them to be much higher. So far this is the best summer of arcade game released this year. It's a metroid-vania style game, of which there are far to few. The game is absolutely beautiful. The campaign is hard to put down once you pick it up. The controls are exactly what you want them to be. The weapons are all distinct and original. The co-op mode is hard to put down. The only fault I can find with the game are the story cinematics you unlock while collecting artifacts throughout the game. They're so short it feels like the game would be better off without them This fault is so minor though, the rest of the game more than makes up for it.
Excellent game to pickup and play, challenging without being frustrating (mostly). Clever tools, and a simple but fun story. Metroid style gameplay with an element of Geometry Wars, it blends nicely. The quick select menu for the top four used tools is helpful, but a bit hard to navigate at first.
This game is great !!!
The way you control de ship independently from the weapon in very similar to "geometry wars".
The way you unlock places on the same map and defeat bosses at the end of each map sector is similar to "the legend of zelda".
All of that is very good.
Multiplayer gameplay (lantern run) is also very enjoyable, but there should be many more multiplayer modes, not only that lantern run.
Game is a very enjoyable game
but it's too short.
One of the games I was really pumped to play during that Summer of Arcade or whatever it was, it ultimately didn't quite live up to the hype. It looked great, but the Metroidvania I was promised was a little lackluster. It was a bit on the short side as well. Overall it was enjoyable, though.
I like the control and gameplay. I love the artwork and background effects. Some days it feels like a bit too much to trouble **** that I take a point. But, It's really a fun game..very enjoyable.
