Exclusively looking at the gameplay of Angry Birds 2, this is the best Angry Birds yet. Throwing in additional randomization spices things up a bit, the "boss fights" are really neat, and all the other little additions here and there (Like fans, flowers that spit blocks for some reason, and other strange things) make playing the game a ton of fun.

Angry Birds 2 is a stunning, proper sequel for the original hit. Beautiful to see, fun to play and rich in content, the game's only shortcoming is the freemium model.

Angry Birds 2 looks great, from the level backdrops through to the little touches: pigs quivering as you prepare to launch a new bird, and then zooming out of the screen towards you as nearby objects explode.

Angry Birds 2 is a great sequel, when you're able to play it.

Rovio has gone above and beyond making Angry Birds 2 the best entry in the series so far, from its polished-up graphics to the new challenges it has to offer.

Angry Birds 2 builds upon an enjoyable mobile gaming mechanic making it well worth picking up for all new bird sling-shotting fun no matter how many previous levels of Angry Birds you have played.

It does evolve the original formula, and it does deliver content enough to keep us playing for some time. The catch is that now it relies on a free-to-play model some players will find questionable.

We like almost everything new Angry Birds 2: cards, spells, levels with multiple scenarios, the bosses, awards, new skills and new look, connect with friends and arena mode. But we do not like the new free-to-play model and to wait or pay for new lives. Did not you could add the option to pay for the game to those who prefer?

Angry Birds 2 is a free download, so there’s nothing to be lost by giving it a try. But given how little its gameplay varies from classic Angry Birds, you might be better off paying a bit of money to grab the first game.

Fun and addictive drag and release style game, but the monetization system is a pain in the ass.

I found the in-app purchases intrusive and destructive of the gameplay flow. If you don’t mind that sort of thing, add 10 points to this review score. If you’re highly irritated by freemium features you can’t avoid, then my only advice is to avoid Angry Birds 2 and opt for one of the earlier games in the series.

Angry Birds is a constantly changing beast, but most of the changes here are for the better.

It may look dramatically better than ever, but the legendary staying power of the original Angry Birds just isn’t there in the sequel.

Intrusive microtransactions make Angry Birds 2 a game for either rich or patient. Without paying it’s almost impossible to play for an hour straight. [10/2015, p.74]

The only problem is the game's irksome freemium bent. [Oct 2015, p.81]

The graphics of Angry Birds 2 are way better than of the first game, and the boss fights are a nice add-on. However, the fun gets spoiled by Facebook popups, film clips, in-game purchases and long waiting times.

If you want a quick dose of smashing piggies, the rich art, clever animations, and other studio-polished niceties are sure to appeal. But for die-hard puzzle game fans much of what made Angry birds so compulsively replayable has been replaced with the standard FtP annoyances and the game and brand suffer as a result.

Somewhere underneath this shameful collection of monetisation gimmicks there’s a decent game waiting to be played, but it never gets a chance to fly as free as it should.

Angry Birds 2 proves that the Angry formula is still fun, but Rovio isn't doing itself any favors by gating that fun left and right. Angry Birds is supposed to be a series you can just pick up and play, and I have no idea what they were thinking here -- other than "more money."

It was nice while it lasted, but I doubt I’ll keep it installed. I hate waiting for most things in life, but if I’m going to wait then it had better be worth it. Angry Birds 2 is not.

Angry Birds 2 doesn't offer anything new or really different. For now its just another forgettable mobile game in the market.

Angry Birds is no longer the ultimate time waster, it now feels like a soulless service built solely to harvest money, and is happy to screw its players in as many ways possible to get it.

Angry Birds 2 shows everything that is wrong with free-to-play. The game balance is weaker, the boosters make the app pay-to-play and the independence on luck makes it impossible to play this game strategically.

It just isn't fun this way. In the old Angry Birds games, the game advanced through gameplay. In Part 2, it advances by credit card purchases. This is a great credit card payment simulator, where you actually pay over and over again! If that is the game you want, this is Game-of-the Year material. Otherwise, the typically fun-but-simple launch mechanics of the old franchise are ruined by intrusive pay-walls of the worst kind. Disgusting. Full Review »

The mechanics of this "game" make the player to lose lives more easily. The only thing I like of this app are the graphics and art style. Nothing else.
