Though it doesn't rewrite the tower offense rulebook, Anomaly 2's meaty campaign, gorgeous visuals, and new morphing mechanic make it a worthy successor.

Simply put, Anomaly 2 is everything Anomaly fans could have ever wanted in a true sequel.

Easily one of the best mobile games I’ve played this year, Anomaly 2 is a tour de force of impressive visuals and exciting gameplay that raises the bar for mobile strategy games. It’s a refreshing take on a genre that clearly has some new ideas left in it.

Despite a handful of technical hiccups, Anomaly 2 is everything fans of the previous games in the series would have asked for, and is a very easy sale for existing Anomaly nuts. Those who are put off by the typically static, reactive gameplay of the tower-defense genre, could do a lot worse than Anomaly 2 if they wish to discover what this gaming scene is really capable of.

This is a beautifully detailed and nuanced strategy game, made with so much love that I foresee players using it as a landmark title to define how deep, full and complete iOS strategy games can be. [Issue 1, February 2014]

While transforming vehicles don't completely change the game from Anomaly 2's predecessors, it does offer a few new strategic twists on the series' already strong gameplay.

There's been Anomaly Korea in the middle but you can't say it was a real sequel rather a standalone campaign. The game takes you through 14 levels of the tower attack strategy game (and an introduction level) and a multiplayer mode which is based on typical tower defense gameplay versus tower attack and it's one vs one don't expect team battles or so. Multiplayer maps require plenty of training. I was beaten mostly until I got used to much faster pacing.

In the single player campaign you have the decoy and healing ability you may know from previous anomalies and the new ones are EMP and aim that lets you power-up your attack on a selected enemy. What makes the sequel really shining are the transforming units. Any of your tanks or rocket shooters or whatevers can be double tapped and it transforms into a robot capable of dealing different kind of attack to enemies like flamethrower machine or a drone that makes your power-ups stay longer and have bigger range. The transforming simply gives you more tactical options and it just looks cool. The game looks amazing I don't know any other strategy having that detailed graphics. Chillingo did it great again. I'd recommend Anomaly 2 to any strategy and TD fans out there. Played it on iPad 3, by the way.
