The verdict here is that if you’ve always been intrigued by Blood Bowl and never had the experience of having a Troll throw a Goblin and the ball together into the end zone, this is probably the best gateway into that world that’s ever existed. For hardcore fans, it’s only going to serve as an appetizer until the next main course comes along in a few months.

Blood Bowl fans, rejoice! Your favorite fantasy bloodsport is now portable, thanks to iPad. But a huge caveat emptor is in effect for the uninitiated.

A rushed port of a clumsy adaptation can't disguise the quality game shining underneath.

Blood Bowl has a lot to offer, though with limited appeal making it worth picking considering depending on our familiarity with the franchise. It’s worth noting that there are plenty of other complex iOS board games that have much friendlier learning curves.

Sadly, while Blood Bowl tries to stay loyal to its strategic roots rather than turn the game into just another sports title, the gameplay isn’t implemented in a clear and logical way.

There's just too much work for too little fun for anyone who isn't already attuned to what Blood Bowl is about.

Longtime fans of Blood Bowl who are down with the lingo and the rules should have no problem jumping in and enjoying this new tablet-based version of the classic game. Those new to the bowl, however, should do a LOT of research before jumping in, or else you’re going to feel slighted, cheated, and lost.
