Bubble Bobble Double is more than a simple, thoughtless updating of the original arcade classic and instead opts for retaining retro appeal while incorporating a new touch-based system that feels just right for iDevices.
From the neo-retro visuals to the great pacing of the puzzle action, Taito's fresh Bubble Bobble is a great little game. Even if it's only half of Bubble Bobble Double, it's wholly fun.
The classic mode in Bubble Bobble Double can still be a lot of fun despite its shortcomings.
A good online mode and cute graphics make Bubble Bobble Double worth a look. But we're not sure if it's worth the hefty price tag.
Bubble Bobble Double is a mixed bag with a seriously disappointing rendition of a classic bogging down an interesting new game.
