I encourage everyone to give this game a try, even if you're a vigilant hater of free to play. Monetization methods aside, you'll still be able to see what a clever formula Supercell has stumbled upon to here with this hybrid of card games, strategy games, and MOBAs.

Clash Royale is one of those rare games that not only gets everything right, but does so while trailblazing a new formula for mobile games.

This competitive, card-based tower defense game crams a lot of depth and satisfying gameplay into small, bite-sized bursts of fun.

Clash Royale is actually a fun gun and really well designed version of MOBA genre for mobile. It isn’t just a cruel revenue model. [Feb 2016]

Another fantastic new card action adventure game from the creators of Clash of Clans.

Buy card packs with your gold, or with real money. It’s made plenty of profit for Blizzard. But SuperCell weren’t satisfied with that. Instead, they chose the greedy path with Clash Royale and made what could have been a truly great game into merely a very good one.

Clash Royale is an accessible strategy game with quick online duels that is worth picking up, but is a bit simple with a grinding free to play system over the long term.

However, that is just because they don't think that they are able to reach the top without winning. I am one of the top people and I haven't spent a penny. You just need to learn how to play the game. The balancing was very well done in my opinion and they are constantly updating the game to balance it even more. The gameplay is fun and almost never gets old. You can donate cards to friends and battle them which is always a blast. The only thing that can make this game better is if Supercell figures out a way to have clan wars. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fun to play in the first 4 or 5 arenas, after that you need to pay to advance. Everything in the game is set to slow down the progress and force the player to buy cards with real money. You spend more time waiting for the chests and cards than actually playing. Expand

They only focus on getting new players and don’t keep their old ones. Once you reach 4000 trophies, you will begin to notice how some troops cost less elixir than they should, how stupid it is that a card is OP just because it’s “legendary” and it’s just generally a bad experience. The new witch being added is a prime example; she is obviously way too unbalanced, but nothing will happen to her because Supercell will just create something new, which is really frustrating, especially once you reach ~4000 trophies. Lots of collectibles and arenas to play through and a large player base which keeps the game alive. However this concept is immediately tarnished from the beginning as there's always micro-transactions which can buy you an advantage. Sure the beginning is easy (even against pay to win kids) because you can easily outsmart and destroy younger kids who are stuck at the bottom. But as you go up, the arenas are much more unforgiving. There's a larger variety of broken cards which kids buy and use to win matches. It's no longer a game of wits and is now a game of who can spend more money. In higher arenas it seems more like a chore than it is a game and that's what's so awful. Supercell (ONCE AGAIN) has let pay to win kids ruin a fun and interesting concept (actually clash of clans wasn't that fun to begin with) Expand
