Mar 22, 2018Florence doesn’t last long but when it's finished, I was left with an overwhelming series of emotions. I don’t want to sound hyperbolic, but I found the simplicity of this game to be profound. Florence right now retails for $2.99 on the App Store and although it doesn't have any replayability, I think it’s worth every penny. I hope that Florence inspires more games of this kind that captured an hour of my day and transformed it into an intrinsic adventure that I’m not soon to forget.
Mar 5, 2018Florence is a love story, a story that merges videogames and comics, able to give shape to a delicate and poetic narration, but with an overwhelming emotional impact, which leaves you truly speechless: at the end of this short story, you will then find yourself with a lump in the throat that would only want to melt into tears.
games(TM)Apr 20, 2018A stunning work of interactive art. [Issue#199, p.83]
Feb 15, 2018Florence takes a pretty familiar plot line and adds more life to it through clever gameplay mechanics and a bright aesthetic. It’s not the most involved game out there, but the relatively small amount of stuff Florence does have to offer is dang near close to perfectly executed.
Feb 20, 2018Florence is a beautiful experience that isn’t afraid to tell an ordinary story. This isn’t an action-packed, heroic tale or a somber story filled with tragedy, but it still hits some of those notes in subdued ways. Florence is happy, distressing, and admirable in its reflection of young romance, and it left me with a sense of unexpected hopefulness.
Feb 28, 2018Although not a game in any conventional sense, more a work of interactive fiction, Florence is about falling in love, its protagonist drifting through the tedium of adult existence before meeting the love of her life. From the mild awkwardness of their first date, to moving in, daily routine, arguments and beyond, your part in each scene sometimes amounting to no more than scrolling through its practically wordless pages, but making you feel a part of its story in a way that graphic novels and films can’t. At only 30 minutes long and with little replay value, this is not for everyone, but its unique emotional journey is an experience that stays with you.

In many ways, this isn't that original of a story, but the new way in which its presented makes the experience very novel. This definitely could have been a 10/10 if the game were longer, but as much as I loved the game, at the end I felt really unsatisfied because I felt like the last act of the story wrapped up way too quickly and I just wish the game had been longer.… Expand

A Roller coaster of emotions
Florence is a mobile game available on the iOS and play store
this is essentially a 30 to 45 minute long interactive story book as you follow a girl through her life.
This is a story of dreams and love, and you’ll go through the ups and downs of both...
And this game does a great drop on conveying emotions without saying a word.
There’s beautiful music to pull you along and immerse you into this story as you’re brushing your teeth, filling in charts at work, coloring ships and butterflies as a child, falling in love
but the game manages to pull in some surprises with its gameplay that I won’t spoil, but every trick this game does managed to get a smile out of me..
There are video gamey aspects here, you’ll be focusing pictures for example, or putting together puzzles...
But all of these mini games help tell the story in a clever way... and it’s fun to figure out where this is going or what its representing as you’re doing it…
you’ll feel attached to the characters you meet as you’re going through different scenarios such as rearranging your home for their items while they move in, you’ll get anxious during little arguments in the grocery store as you’re trying to put together puzzles faster than they are.
I don’t want to talk too much about this game out of fear of spoiling
I wasn’t a fan of the overall message I got out of the game, but I feel everyone will get a different message so that’s fine.
I did get something great out of this experience though...
It made me think how silly fights really are
how our ego and stubbornness lock us out of beautiful things.
But I’ll stop.
This is a clever game well worth the $3 asking price
I give Florence
an 8/10… Expand

The gameplay is simplistic, but helps the story. Not all the actions are obvious enough so they need to show this tip on what to do which detracts from art. Story is beautiful, but maybe a little bit too generic.… Expand

The game has a couple of very special moments that I won't spoil that are actually pretty moving to experience. If you've ever went through the trials and tribulations of being in a relationship, this game will definitely resonate with you. Florence tells a very simple story with little to no dialogue and very minimal game play, but it's absolutely worth the small investment of your money/time that it asks for.… Expand
