Hunter Island isn't a Pokémon substitute, but it doesn't try to be. It's just a very decent RPG that provides hours of battling fun. It is, quite simply, its own monster.
Hunter Island is obviously influenced by Pokemon, but still manages to truly shine in its own unique way.
If you're looking for an accessible RPG that'll give you a lot of bang for your buck, give this one a look.
Add this to the increasingly large pile of iOS games marked 'sort of like Pokemon, but not nearly as good'. Aside from the stupendously good soundtrack, there's little to get excited about here.
