May 3, 2017Having not played Planescape: Torment before, it took a while for the game to really get its hooks into me. It all felt a bit too sprawling and slow moving, and the complicated interface did not help matters. Then you get into a fight and discover that watching the tiny, blurry characters take laboured swings at each other is hardly the stuff of legend. But keep playing and eventually something magical happens, as your character and supporting cast spring to life. My advice is to put aside any initial negative impressions and throw yourself into this engrossing story, with its excellent characters, strange happenings, intelligent plot twists and even a smattering of philosophical debate.

Apr 18, 2017Bottom line, if you memorize the location of the "skip dialogue" button for every game, you may want to give this one a pass. Planescape: Torment still stands tall as a landmark masterpeice that can continue to age gracefully, now on your phone or tablet. Make sure you pack your reading glasses if you grab it!

Apr 12, 2017Even in the opening moments of Planescape: Torment, it's easy to see that it is an important game. Just because it's important though, doesn't mean that it has held up well in the 18 years since its release. Unless you have a high tolerance for old game design or have some deep nostalgia for Infinity Engine RPGs, I'm not sure you'll have a great time controlling Torment, but you may still enjoy how totally unique a game it is.
