Once I’m actually playing, I have a ball with this, because it is, in a very real sense, a cultural phenomenon. Never has a game managed to get people to flock over to specific areas of town like birds to seed. People point to it being too simple as a game, but really the game bit is barely relevant. What is relevant is that this game has people out and about, socialising and exploring. There’s a group experience event going on with Pokemon Go, and it’s addictive to simply be part of the collective.

An amazing game. I would even dare to say that it is an amazing social experience. The idea of traveling, meeting new trainers and catch pokemons everywhere is simply too good to be true. Cannot wait to play it even more, I've never been so eager to go grocery shopping.

Pokemon GO is already the best thing from 2016. Although the game has some server issues, once these problems are resolved the hype will probably continue. Thanks to limitless possibilities in add ons of Pokemon and features.

It's not perfect, but it is special. Pokémon Go uses a set of simple but functional mechanics to encourage social play and actual exercise. You won't love it purely for the game (if battling with friends is introduced that may well change) but what the game inspires is absolutely part of its success. I've gone on walks with friends purely to catch Pokémon in the real world. My eight-year-old self would have exploded if you told him that would one day be a reality.

This game is a worldwide phenomenon, which says a great deal about how much the fans love Pokémon. The technical issues and the shallow gameplay should have already killed the app, but instead the geocaching and AR make this a social adventure that we will definitely be playing for a long time to come.

As a game, Pokémon GO is weak at it's best. But as a social phenomenon, it knows no limits. They make us believe that we must catch them all... But it is they who've captured us.

So we've got a game that I don't enjoy from any angle (which sucks), but it's also dominating the cultural conversation right now (which is great). I'm torn on this one, honestly! See, I don't recommend Pokémon Go the video game. But I can't get enough of Pokémon Go the cultural artifact. It's a Videodrome-esque obsession, and I'm very disappointed in how excited I am to play my part. Long live the new flesh.

I know many people will be dissappointed because some areas are emptier than others and there is in app purchases, but what do you expect from a free to play game? Its one of the most addicting and fun games i have played in a long time and going for a walk with friends is really fun. Pokemon go can be laggy at times and it will crash, but it doesnt happen that often and it uses quite a lot of battery, but these are just little things and i recommend this game to everyone. Expand

It has gotten me out and about my neighborhood like no other app has. I prefer to be indoors, in my home, and I would rather not be in places with a lot of people. This game makes me want to be out amongst others.

The game is easy to play when it works. I haven't missed throwing pokeballs correctly very often. The Pokedex is nice to see. I haven't started upgrading my Pokémon, or done anything with eggs, but I am sure those things will only keep me playing more.

I will update my review in about a month once this game has had time to get patched and more features added.

Pokemon Go is a shallow game riding on its Pokemon legacy. The hype is expected but in its current state I can't recommend the game to anyonePokemon Go is a shallow game riding on its Pokemon legacy. The hype is expected but in its current state I can't recommend the game to anyone even casual gamers.

In its effort to make the game accessible to everyone the game is well oversimplified: 1. catch pokemons by swiping the screen to throw pokeballs, 2. strengthen the pokemon by catching the same type of pokemon over and over again, 3. restock for more pokeballs at "pokestops" and 4. "battle" at gyms against AI controlled pokemon. 5.as an added extra you can walk to hatch eggs.

The first issue is if your favorite pokemon is not the common ones around your area then you probably wouldn't be able to use it in battle because of its low stats (point no. 2). This is apparent when I see almost all the gyms around my area being controlled by commonly found pokemons. Rarely can someone power up their starter pokemon unless it can be consistently found around their area.

Another mechanism of this game is as you level up the strength of the wild pokemon that you find also increases. This deters trainers from investing time and effort to train older pokemons. Why spend the resources to level a pokemon from 50 CP to 300 CP when the next pokemon one finds in the wild is 300 CP?

Finally, the gym mechanism doesn't work for casuals. Around my area the gyms are guarded by pokemons over 1000 CP. Casuals with few hundred CP pokemons would be obliterated trying to battle at gyms.

I am not a super huge fan of the franchise but I love it enough to know enough. Got a pikachu hat and a talking plushe. Used to be mental on the N64 with poke stadium. However... When I first started PokeGo it was pretty awesome. But now... since after the release and more countries added... EVERYTHING sucks!!! I don't understand why rural areas are empty. I don't understand why they are silent about the 3 step bug and the whole NEARBY list that doesn't work. I've been out and about with my GF and friends and the game KEEPS screwing me over. Again and again. Just now I finally found an Arcanine, I saw it on the map, tapped it to catch it / battle, and guess what. Game went down. I cant believe something THIS BADLY DESIGNED is out on the market without any word of fixes. I understand the hacks made it difficult. But stop FEKKING putting the game out in other countries because your servers aren't stable yet. This game could be sooooooo much more than it is right now. I am more than frustrated. I am truly angry because I am so let down. And my enthusiasm is a weak point. But for the love of God and everything that is holy. FIX THIS GAME COMPLETELY! AND LET US HEAR FROM YOU! NIANTIC!!! This was a game I lived for when it first came out back in July. It seemed like an awesome game, so I figured why not play it? I was hooked instantly. I caught pokemon after pokemon and it was so much fun. Now the game has turned into rubbish. Niantic, you can go jump in a lake with this pile of crap. You made it so that YOU CANNOT EVEN PLAY THE GAME IN A CAR PERIOD as a passenger, and I cannot even do anything more than a brisk walk and the game will cease to function. All that is in my area is dumb common pokemon, or nothing at all. I will not recommend even my worst enemy play this pile of trash. I would highly recommend getting Pokemon Sun and Moon if you haven't done so already, its by far a much better game. Even when and if Generation 2 comes out, it won't be fun anymore because you cant even use the game anywhere. This game sucks and I am so upset that Niantic had to turn it into this.....this terrible excuse for a game. I really am flabbergasted as to why they'd do this, but something is telling me they want people to PAY instead of make it a free game. Goodbye Pokemon Go and good riddance. I am completely done with you. Expand
