"Regardless of whether Rayman is climbing, swinging, or hovering like a helicopter, the control never once loses its smooth, seamless feel. Rayman 2 brings the same kind of fun that you will find in other great games of the genre, while at the same time creating its own identity and following." ... Read full review

"To say that Rayman 2 impressed me would be a tremendous understatement. About the only blemish the game has is its lack of any multiplayer contests." ... Read full review

"This game plays as good as it looks. Rayman himself responds perfectly to the analogue stick and it doesn’t take very long before controlling him becomes second nature, leaving you to focus your attention on the aweinspiring graphics and infinitely interesting environments. In fact, I can say with a clear conscious that Rayman 2 is absolutely THE BEST FORCED PATH 3D PLATFORMER ON ANY SYSTEM TO DATE. PERIOD." ... Read full review

"Alone, the vivid colors and lighting effects are incredible, but pop in the expansion pak and Rayman's world comes to life in cartoonishly bright tones. We're treated to a luscious feast of sharp textures, cartoonish and colorful characters, and appealing indoor and outdoor environments. Given the limited capabilities of the N64 version of Rayman 2 compared to its PC counterpart, one simply has to marvel at the results." ... Read full review

"Rayman 2 is a very traditional platformer that is executed extremely well. Every new level presents a new, clever challenge that will likely leave you saying, "Wow. That's really cool." Banjo-Kazooie has nothing on Rayman here. A deep, rich platformer that must be experienced." ... Read full review

"From the unexpected-surprise department comes Rayman 2, an outstanding platformer. [Jan 2004, p.189]"

"Each of the 3D worlds are crammed tight with interesting layouts, dazzling backgrounds and novel gameplay situations. You never are at a loss to find your next objective - the flip side is that there's little room to explore and find all the cool secret stuff found in other games of this type." ... Read full review

All in all, wonderful game. Expand

An epic journey for Rayman! I love everything about this game. The graphics, the music, the gameplay. It's the best game ever made.

Now this game is in my opinion near perfect, and does everything correctly. WHERE DO I START??? he controls are tight, the levels are flowingNow this game is in my opinion near perfect, and does everything correctly. WHERE DO I START??? he controls are tight, the levels are flowing and all 19 levels are GREAT. And the difficulty is great for new gamers but not hardcore. Because this game is super easy. However the game does have bugs and on the ps2 version TERRIBLE frame rate problems so the game is not perfect so I give this game a 9.5/10 Expand

Along with rayman legends, the best rayman ever created. Game that wastes creativity and imagination. Unforgettable and super addictiveAlong with rayman legends, the best rayman ever created. Game that wastes creativity and imagination. Unforgettable and super addictive soundtrack. To put a snag, this version of Nintendo 64 needed a controller pack (memory card) to save the game and that was not included in the game box. For the rest, essential to play. Expand

Rayman 1 is, in my opinion, perhaps the most finely crafted 2D platformer ever. From the outstandingly creative worlds that feel so much larger than just the levels in the game, to the beautiful soundtrack and stunning visuals, to the brilliantly right and responsive controls that make controlling Rayman around the levels a joy, Rayman 1 had it all. It was difficult but fair, and took an entirely unique approach to platformer games I don't think has been matched before or since.

You've got the perfect framework, adding just enough to a platformer to make it truly unique. All the stars were aligned, so what do you do? **** it all up. Behold, Rayman 2.

Creative level designs are gone, and all the inventive and magical world themes have been stripped away for dull generic garbage. Controlling Rayman now feels awkward and tiresome, with no sharpness to his movement. The music is grey and lifeless, and the game is pathetically easy. Everything here feels like it was a decision made not out of a desire to improve, but out of a want to follow whatever is trendy. Even the story goes from Rayman 1s perfect mix of basic cartoon plot but with an intimidating villain to hold it up, to an absurdly dark plot that has a villain who is about as threatening as a wet sock.

Rayman 2 doesn't know how to have fun or be fun. It knows only how to be unnecessarily dreary and dull, writhing in its own pathetic pool of bad ideas and even worse gameplay.
