    A Plague Tale: Requiem impressed with the time I was able to spend with her. It's clear that Asobo is working on fixing the biggest flaws in 2019's A Plague Tale: Innocence. This improved the quality of movement and resource management, expanded Amicia and Hugo's skill sets, and expanded the levels to encourage more creative interaction with your surroundings.

    With gorgeous visuals, well-written characters, stunning atmosphere, and an amazing Photo Mode function, A Plague Tale: Requiem surpasses its predecessor. However, the gameplay and puzzles tend to remain fairly easy and straightforward.

    Unlike the first game, this is a pure travel story. Moreover, the new characters, new places we discover, and the Hugo-Amicia relationship that deepens in the middle of all this makes this journey a memorable experience. I was expecting this game to be good, but wasn't expecting this much.

    Requiem is a great sequel that expands on everything its predecessor did. By running away from all the tiresome trends the industry is following, it also manages to deliver a fun adventure with great pacing, topped by incredible visuals.

    Except for the stuttering and crashes endured through the review period, A Plague Tale: Requiem is a very well done game. The story remains as engaging as ever, with a whole cast of compelling characters. The myriad of mechanics keeps things exciting, and the pacing makes you feel like you had the right amount of it at the right times. The overall presentation is stunning to the point where it is already a looker, even before ray tracing comes into the picture. If the stability fixes come in for the title, you're looking at a game that'll easily make a "Best Of" list for 2022.

    The game itself has become more mature and brutal with some really horrifying scenes along the way. The gameplay hasn't changed that much, but there are still some sweet additions like crossbow and new alchemy tools. The soundtrack is also pretty good and solid.

The gameplay in this sequel is flexible, fluid, and the difficulty is challenging but rewarding and realistic.

    There is no need to have played the first game to enjoy this sequel, as it is built to be standalone. The narrative is just as fantastic as it was in the original. The focus of this sequel is slightly different, but that has its own charm.

    Overall, a must-play if you enjoy story-centric action-adventures, where you have the freedom to choose your own gameplay approach. There are no forced collectables here, only pure enjoyment at your own pace.    … Expand
