As America tumbles into turmoil, confusion and chaos, only one man can save the nation from a threat that's growing more frightening by the day. In this expansion pack we follow major Jason Richter and his Task Force Talon on a desperate race against time to unravel a gigantic plot to cripple the world's only super-power, with connections back to the Consortium, the shadowy organization we got to know in Direct Action. Aside from theathers of war ranging from New York and Manhattan to Cuba, Mexico and Florida, in this installment we also take the fight to the murky waters inbetween - as we're introduced to modern naval combat in the same ultra-realistic style as we did on land in Direct Action. With High Treason, Act of War has become one of the most flexible multiplayer RTSs since "Rise of Nations." It's also still the best "Command & Conquer: Generals" clone since, well, "Command & Conquer: Generals."
  2. High Treason ratchets up the cool gameplay and techno-thriller storytelling that was introduced in Act of War.
  3. PC Format

The naval combat and countryside levels make a change from the urban warfare that ran through the original, but it's the engaging, conspiracy-fuelled storyline that keeps this feeling fresh. [June 2006, p.96]
  4. High Treason is a great game all around, but will most likely not gain the attention of most gamers, due to Atari’s muted response Direct Action. Without more online players, and with other competing modern-warfare RTS’s, High Treason is likely to slip under the radar, never gaining the popularity it deserves.

Overall, it's pretty much what you'd expect in an expansion: more stuff. And even if that stuff isn't well thought-out, there's enough of it here that High Treason is well worth your time and money.
  6. PC Gamer UK

It's still a mimic of "Command & Conquer" at heart, and it still screws up some basic stuff. [May 2006, p.80]
  7. That there are a couple more modes for fighting other humans underlines that this is a pack that exists primarily for those who play online - and without even giving a decent experimentation zone to play with the new possibilities of the ships without embarrassing yourself in front of a peer by crashing into a pier. Or something.

Unbelievable game- sacrifices some realism (i.e. no US carriers or F-22s, and F-117s can be accessed by all) for balancing but the campaign Unbelievable game- sacrifices some realism (i.e. no US carriers or F-22s, and F-117s can be accessed by all) for balancing but the campaign is great fun and the single player is emjoyable no matter how many times you play it. A very accurate modern RTS with detailed combat on land, sea and air, and a very good buy. Expand
