This is a great strategy game at a very reasonable price. An excellent, historically accurate map covers the entire viking world from VinlandThis is a great strategy game at a very reasonable price. An excellent, historically accurate map covers the entire viking world from Vinland to the Caspian, with dynamic weather conditions and seasons that the player needs to take into account. The player can choose to play as Denmark, Norway or Sweden in one of 3 scenarios spanning the period from 700 to 1000, and the world evolves from an age of discovery and colonisation to one in which the viking powers are raiding into the mighty empires of the Franks, Byzantines and Arabs. A fiercely competent ai makes each period challenging, with the player able to track progress towards victory via a clear tally of victory points that grows or shrinks according to your success each turn. Randomly occurring events and a variable regional setup give great replayability. It runs very smoothly and has real strategic depth behind the relatively simple and quick to learn mechanics. If you like the viking age (and who doesn't?), the game successfully mimics the conditions of the period and you will find yourself island hopping across the Atlantic, establishing fortified bases to raid the rich empires to the south, or creating a kingdom of Rus and breaking into the Black Sea and the Caspian. Any small bugs in the original release have been ironed out by a developer who is very active in responding to the community - so it is really a strong recommend! Expand
