There's nothing quite like Albion Online in the modern climate of MMOs, and frankly, it's a breath of fresh sandbox air.

Albion Online remains very motivating despite the large grind, thanks to the many and freely selectable options for character development.

Albion Online is a fun sandbox MMORPG with a clever progression mechanic and deep player-economy. The mid to late game grind and hardcore nature might turn away anyone looking for a more casual experience.

Albion Online, the brand new MMO PvP game, from the Berlin-based studio Sandbox Interactive, is portrayed as a sandbox MMO with a player-driven economy and robust PvP. However, it falls short on both its promise and entertainment value. With thousands of players online simultaneously, a huge landmass to explore, and plenty of room for Guild vs Guild combat, Albion Online has potential to be an outstanding experience — but this is yet to be the case.
  6. Albion Online is the best game to remember old school MMOs' and somehow the worst of the new ones.

You could kindly call Albion Online old-school or hardcore, which might appeal to gamers with a nostalgia for the days of corpse runs, griefing, and ganking. Less graciously, you could say it is repetitive, cynical, uninspired, and opaque. In truth, MMORPGs that survive their infancy often grow into very different games than they were at launch. Patches and player input often have a way of shaping a game for the better, and given time, Albion Online may evolve as well.

If you are looking for a WOW-style game with story and tons of quests, look elsewhere. If you like player-driven sandbox games like EVE, Darkfall or Ultima Online, Albion may be exactly your thing.
The game as evolved a lot since launch; there is a big, free content update roughly every three months. The three updates so far brought an Arena, battle mounts, PVP seasons, fishing and tons of other content (new expeditions, items, mobs etc.).

Even simple things such as UI are completely underdeveloped and bugged out. Save your money. Developers do not listen to the community or their feedback and seem only interested in spending their money on marketing, not any development.

Game design forces everyone into zerg style play(in the +1 mentality, where overwhelming numbers is more important than any semblance of skills) not just in the fight mechanics, but the hoards of guild slaves needed to finance the extremely high costs of the guild leader's gear in the 5v5s. However, the game architecture can't even handle the zerg vs zerg is forces everyone into and it turns into a laggy mess with disconnects any time people try to engage in how the developers purportedly designed the game to be played instead of solo or in small groups(which the CEO of the company said the game was not made for) that the game consistently punishes you for.

The game is horribly optimized and runs poorly locally despite utilizing a minimalist art style.

If you enjoy frustration, don't value your time, and have an excess of money, then this game is for you.
