An exhilarating indie adventure which combines elements of the past and present of the genre into a wonderful, albeit short, horror story.
A good atmosphere and the right pace help Alpha Polaris to be a good horror tale. Problem is that, for 20 euros, the game is a bit too short, technically has some problems and not the whole adventure perform at the same quality level.

Technically this game has missed the last 15 years, but if you like science and polar exploration or more complex puzzles, you might like this game.
Small Finnish adventure tries to be an appealing psychological horror but fails because of low-budget design and weak atmosphere. [Issue#207]
The developers promised us an atmosphere of real horror, love,
friendships, suspicions, paranoia, but delivered none of these things.
This game has no spark, no aftertaste... In fact, it has no taste
whatsoever.
Nightmares turn to reality. People start dying. Mainly of boredom. Sluggish story is Alpha Polaris' biggest drawback – you can fall asleep in front of the screen before things start to get interesting. Some ideas (like the possibility of solving some puzzles with a couple different objects) deserve acknowledgement but it's not enough when everything else is lame. [August 2011, p.57]
