The game was half-baked upon "release", but since then Kunos have invested a crazy amount of work in it, to the point where it's currently the best GT3 experience simracing has to offer.

If you ever watched a GT race (with on-boards), listened to the race commentaries and drivers interviews, you'll find yourself familiar with the subject after "driving" a fair amount of hours with the simulation. I am talking about driving constantly on the edge, with laptimes comparable to the real ones.
Racecar setup knowledge is a must if you want to shave off those tenths from your personal best or to adapt to the track dconditions altering tyres pressures and angles.

If you hope to jump in the cockpit of the one car you deem looking the coolest and immediately start sliding across the track exchanging door paint with your opponents, you're set onto a painful and excruciating path. Being fast is no joke, and takes skills, concentration and practice practice practice.

During the race you'll find yourself managing the tyres in order to keep your laptimes consistent.
Too aggressive with less than optimal track conditions? you get graining on the front.
Greedy traction control setting and hasty exiting corners? hot rears and eventual blistering.
Too optimistic on that bumpy kerb or corner cut? high risk of losing tyre pressure.

There are many other things that can go wrong. At first, the time loss is insignificant, but these events will sum up and you'll be forced to slow down at best. One hesitation, one mistake and you spin, flatspot your tyres..

This should give an idea of the accuracy of the simulation.

Unfortunately, being a PC software it has it share of quirks and bugs, mostly UI related, and despite of a competent AI (provided you're fast) the singleplayer experience feels somewhat still at a work-in-progress phase.
Patches come out regularly addressing a wide spectre of issues.

    To sum up

    PROs:
    - physics (being improved as I write)
    - highly detailed laser-scanned tracks
    - dynamic weather (Rain physics are superb)
    - sounds
    - photorealistic visuals
    - stable multiplayer
    - advanced driver rating system
    - detailed cars and liveries from 2018 Blancpain GT (2019 addon on its way)
    - acceptable VR performance
    - developers listen to the community

    CONs:
    - Tyre model issues on some kerbs (being reworked with next patch 1.0.7)
    - VR visuals (AA, shadows)
    - UI bugs here and there
    - Rating system currently not fully functional

I am big fan of the game for couple of reasons. I LOVE GT3 cars... This game introduced me to Blancpain GT Series witch i have been following last 4 years. And its a great journey.. Amazing races.. crown jewel of them is SPA 24h my dream now is to attend one of those :)

Back on to the game review:

    Content
1.0 version of the game brings Official 2018 season content.. witch means 10 tracks and 18 cars(13 manufacturers)
and already confirmed FREE UPDATE later this year of 2019 season witch will bring 1 new track and 6-7 new cars confirmed by far.

    Tracks
laserscaned so you can feel every bump while driving..
    Cars
each car has its own personality whole different driving adjustment when you switch from lambo to bentley lets say.. crazy how all cars act so different along with amazing details on them interactive interior where you can see buttons move and animation of driver doing it,rubber dirt, spot on details on liveries from real cars, even LED strips for endurance racing on cars were reproduced spot on as close to real life counterpart as possible.

    Campaign
Witch has real life driver coaching you trough the youngster program until you get approved to do full season racing.

And next to all that bunch of small options to fiddle around and create your own fun do as you wish no unlocking of content etc.

    SOUNDS
Sounds in the game are amazing. No comment.. ear bleeding from how loud some cars are...drooling how good some cars sound..and if you compare them to the real life footage they are spot on..

    MULTIPLAYER
Multiplayer is a whole new level of the game. Your driving is scored on advanced rating witch is ruining on servers and by your skills you will be matched with people same skill for better racing experience.

Penalty system witch will not let cheaters go around that easy... (Good luck serving drive trough on SPA :D )

Online QUICK JOIN button, yes now there is quick join button where game will automatically find the best fitting serveer for you. Or if you already have your ratings worked out you can enter CP(competitive) servers where situation is more competitive etc.

or use good old Server Browser and find what you like and want :)

From my personal expirience MULTIPLAYER has been so much fun..doing public races doing closed in sessions races...its just hours and hours of fun for me.

Feeling of adrenaline rush when you are doing qualis and you end up on top places with just 0.1-3xx in between top 10
when you start doing formation lap..and hit green lights and you floor it... when you do longer races and fight for survival fight against the all odds... if you like that this game is definitely for you.. excitement when you have 2-3 corners of side by side driving.. hoohh..

Now if you want to listen what some people expectations were and their wishes did not get granted, (that the reason for so many negative reviews) people expected iRacing type of multiplayer for 25€ game and developers said they will not have that and people gone mad.. merge that with some youtubers covering that ♥♥♥♥♥torm and bam people that barely touched the game leaving reviews how game is bad..

    Physics and FFB
Now this is touchy topic but its must.. I own a G27 (yes yes i know entry wheel not DD etc.)
I have it set so game feels so good on the wheel so i can feel all the car movement on the wheel little slip of the car i am on it and correcting it.. when i spin i can feel the rubber scraping the tarmac until car comes to a stop. Bumps curbs, you can feel it everything. FFB on G27 for me its perfect.. different wheels may differ but putting some time and setting up wheel is worth it.

    ¸Graphics/Weather/24h day and night cycle

Graphics is top notch...game looks amazing no doubt about it.. no racing game looks like this and delivers amount of detail ACC does.
Weather- most wanted feature from AC came to ACC and its RAIN. Developers really nailed it with this one.. Rain and driving on rain is scary AF. And i mean it..fighting a car trough the track even on wet tires(on stronger rain) its crazy and surreal feeling. You can feel the puddles on the FFB you can feel how your wheel is dancing on the track that does not have grip... you can f

The game feels like beta in pretty much every area. Placeholder UI, broken settings, alignment, no mouse, AA, constant crashes, high component loads and abysmal FPS. There has been little to no VR support from Kunos so we have all been left to fix all their half finished config files.

You'll need some expensive equipment to run ACC in VR especially if you use anything better than the 1st gen CV1 Rift and V1 Vive that will happily run in a GTX1080. There are people that are running in a half refresh rate on 1070's but I'm sure they have very minimum settings or close to.

Support is non-existent from the devs but the community is pulling together, plenty of guys willing to give up some time to help out those that ask.

    The Good
Handling feels fine if not yet as good as IRacing, I would say its an improvement over AC1. Cars react well to setup change but the preset setups are just thrown together and need tweaking, the rating system could be good but no filters yet to implement them all onto a server. Weather and 24H time of day are massive. They have to be applauded for that.

I'm no hater and I'm sure over the next month or two ACC will be the title it should already be. Selling out to as publisher will always force the release and I feel that is exactly what's happened here. Releasing a 0.8 beta and slapping the 1.0 badge just don't fix all the missing features and broken half arsed VR.

My advice is wait it out if you use VR, pancake users will have a lot better experience but I still feel its not worth the asking price as the game is today.

Steam ratings are a better example of the quality its in right now. Them critic reviews are a complete joke.

    Its a waiting game...………..

Thank you guys and gals at Kunos for having created such a distinct racing sim!
... unfortunately it has its flaws especially if you are a VR aficionado!

The driving experience with my T300RS wheel was simply the best to date, great weight to the car, good feedback from all elements on track although I must agree with #MarkRace about the issue where clipping the curb feels VERY punishing!
The graphics are amazing but require a serious PC even to get medium spec graphics. Daylight and solo time trials are fine (@ 60fps 1440p on a i7 7700 cpu / gtx 1070) but add in 16 plus AI cars, night conditions and rain, it all comes to a stand still.
I primarily drive with a Rift and the same performance issues arise, great solo driving experience, add AI and I get a few corners that slow down, add any rain/night effects and it is simply unplayable.
The career is very narrow (compared to Project Cars 2) but functions fine in this category specific title. Car numbers should never be a factor since you know what you get in racing titles: either 600 cars that all feel the same or 10 cars that are full of character. This title is clearly the later and portrays them all very well, great job Kunos!
VR is the real sticky point (drops my review from an 8 to a 6)... VR UI is absolutely useless, clipping through the body work of my car, can't read anything. No real integration for typing (enter your driver name is the most dreaded activity: take off Rift, no UI on my PC monitor so type on keyboard, put on Rift, check name correct, take off, press TAB on keyboard to go to next text field, type, put on Rift, check OK, take off rift... etc) absolute nightmare! You might as well start career without VR and then restart game after first races in VR.
VR performance is really an issue, reducing the settings changes NOTHING to how bad the VR performance is.
Yet I love the feel and will go around and round the solo tracks in daylight for hours until they fix the performance in race / night / rain... or I get a Titan RTX with I9 CPU for a mere 3000$ just to play the full game.

Hope this helps, especially anyone willing to play this with low / mid end PC with VR... forget it!

Performance sucks even on Nvidia's GPUs. Imagine the unlucky people out there trying to run this game on an AMD videocard.
The bad thing is that the image quality is far worse than games like Forza Horizon, Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo. And those run on consoles. Yes, we call this c**p optimisation.
VR image quality is outstandingly bad.
    No proper triple screen support.
Gamepad isn't as supported as Assetto Corsa LMAO.
    Keyboard controls are broken.
UI is bugged and some of the button's icons aren't even updated.
FOV: you have to change it for every car you drive.
The rating system tells you how to drive properly. Funnily enough if you do as it says, you'll be slower than if you drive as fast as you can but you'll receive a lower value.
Not to mention that it sucks, because online is as bad as always. That means it's worse than what SRS provided in Assetto Corsa 1.

Handling feels pretty good except the highly unrealistic car behaviour when driving over curbs.
    FFB is good.

Talking about price. The game is simply not worth full price at the moment. Wait for a massive sale.

    - The audio is very impressive, the engines sound really good. Hands down the best I have experienced and it truly helps for the immersion.
    - Finally a multiplayer game mode that this is easy to get into for people who dont have GT Sport or a subscription to ircaing. The multiplayer take a lot from GT Sport and ircacing and that's great! Easy to get into a race and compete with other people. I would love to have a ranking system or something similar.
    - Graphics are gorgeous and I really enjoy the colors and sharpness of the images.
    - The VR is quite good. i use an HTC Vive Pro and RTX 2080 ti with which PC2 looks very ugly. Only ircaing looks OK. But ACC really did well with its VR mode with much less screen door effect. It is quite enjoyable.

    The Bad:
    - Too few tracks. I hope we can get more tracks in the following updates.
    - Still some random crashes. i know the game was just released so I hope this gets sorted out fast.

    The Ugly:
    - I know the game focuses on GT3 but having a bit more cars would be nice.

All in all, ACC is an amazing racing sim for the price. I highly recommend it but I hope the devs can fix the crashes.

Assetto Corsa it is absolutely impossible on a controller. The argument most die hards make is to “buy a steering wheel this is a real sim”, that’s simply not good enough, if its available on console its reasonable to assume it’s a game not just a sim. The type of steering wheel required including the rig required to house it, is the guts of £450 - £500 a simple £100 plastic wheel is not good enough and doesn’t have the degree of rotation required giving the same issues as the controller. I understand this is a serious sim racer and it has die hards like every other niche game, but a £500 barrier to entry will ensure this game remains Die Hard only and un-noticed but the masses. Why not offer and out of the box steering set up that plays on a controller as an option?, Keep the sim settings and add a proper buffer setting built specifically for analogue sticks. The issue on analogue currently is that the wheel turns to full lock in game but the stick doesn’t. (weirdly the PC ver has the option to correct the degree of rotation but console controller setting doesn’t, that would probably be the easiest fix!) The in game steering used in tandem with the current buffer setting available will offer one of 2 scenarios, either the steering buffer is set to 0% making the input direct, which on a wheel which has full rotation is the preferred setting but in the miniscule space an analogue stick has to move its makes it a hyper sensitive mess. Scenario 2 you apply the (current) buffer setting to a percentage that suits your needs this will correct the sensitivity by reducing direct input which is fine until you hit a chicane like Monza’s or the cork screw at Laguna Seca where the steering needs to be turned one way and then another rapidly, any buffer applied reduces the speed at which the wheel can be turned the opposite way, the steering lags behind the input as per the buffer, the analogue can be pushed all the way to the left and depending on the buffer applied the on screen wheel lags behind the input (any buffer applied creates this lag only at 0% is there no lag.) in both of these scenarios this renders controller use impossible. The controller needs its own system built in to the game, a direct input calibrated to the space an analogue stick has to move in. or at the very least the option to reduce the degree of rotation. Many games have an input suited to the sensitivity of an analogue stick so its far from impossible to have an out of the box option, it could even be a copy paste equation for all I know but its possible. Time and time again (SIM) developers refuse to do it correctly or put any effort in to testing its playability, and will continue to lose out to inferior (SIMS) games like of Gran Turisimo and Forza. Don’t buy this game if you are planning to use a controller it’s a waste of time, energy and money the setting offered will never work, the settings themselves are poorly considered and incorrectly applied.

Kunos have been very defensive about it when asked because they know that UE4 is not capable as a racing VR engine. They admitted that on their forums.

This sim is awful, Kunos have admitted that it can't be fixed in future due to the limitations of the engine and I have to say that despite the better FFB and laser scanned tracks, this is a step (or 10) backwards from the original AC.

We're now many patches in and all they've done is add more and more bugs.

With current-generation racing games, updates make a big difference and none more so than ACC v1.07 released this week. As a driving experience, this game is now superb on dry tracks and the more challenging night and wet conditions. The feel and feedback in the wheel is exceptional with subtle and meaningful feedback.

The overall gameplay such as the career mode, leaderboards and hotstint challenges still require further work which is why this remains an 8/10 score rather than anything higher. If you are looking for a great pure and real driving experience this is it.

-----------Previous Launch Day Review 4/10 ----------------

An excellent driving experience spoiled by frequent bugs, crashes, poor VR performance and an old fashioned career mode with questionable design. For a game called Competizione the online is multiplayer is outdated with frequent performance problems and crashes.

An overall score doesn' give enough detail on the positives and negatives in this game. Here are my ratings for each element of the game I have tried.

9.5/10 - general driving experience, TX458 wheel force feedback, car behaviour, night and especially wet weather feel so realistic. I've driven a lot of real world wet laps and medium rain with some standing water feels just right in terms of impact on the car and feel through the wheel. The .5 is lost for those odd spins when the front inside wheel hits a kerb, it's never happened to me in real life, it looks wrong in the replays but it is something I've learned to drive around in this game. Currently, the best way to experience this game is just as it was in Early Access the Special Event hot lap, hot stint and Super Pole sessions which encourage the player to drive different cars in a range of challenging track and weather conditions. As a hot lapping game, it is recommended. The rest of the game does not match this standard.

9/10 - racing the AI in single player. They are great to race with, leave space but no pushovers and fight back. More AI vs AI battling on track, would be good, there is some but more would be better.

5/10 - VR is only really viable in good conditions and with a lot of settings reduced. It's worse than it was in EA. VR performance in multiplayer is awful and not really playable. Pretty much a current top spec PC is required to even run VR and then it is often fuzzy. Kunos, the developer has since removed the VR tag from Steam which is a dodgy post-launch move.

4/10 - Multiplayer, it the usual pub racing. That is not Kunos's fault, that's 'sim' racing in multiplayer in general it seems. However, there are way too many PC crashes and bugs (races not starting after rolling start etc). Rating system (which I really enjoy) seems pretty much irrelevant at this stage.

2/10 - Career oh deary me. 1997 wants it's career mode back, TOCA games were better than this. Too many crashes (latest after the Misano tyre test has ended), inexplicable design choice not to allow saving between sessions. It isn't a career it's a bunch of hot laps challenges and races stitched together. If the F1 games from 2016 onward hadn't been invented or the GT medal challenge system and track trainer etc never existed maybe they'd get away with this. Just seems so tacked on. So much potential here. If they are going to console (they'll need to sort out the performance issues, no current console would run this game) the career needs serious work.

All that said when it all works in a VR single player race (or those occasional moments when MP in the normal screen is free of crashers and chaos) it's just so good.

Overall then ACC remains like owning a 90's Italian Supercar when everything is working and you're driving it as intended the passion shines through in the looks, sound and perfect driver feedback. Just like owning the supercar you've got to work at the experience to get the most from it. Glance away from the driving experience and you start to notice the flaws, the panel gaps, the expensive parts (especially for VR/4K) the buttons that don't work, the confusing menus that make no real sense and how often things go wrong. Some will be prepared to work at it for those few moments and forgive all that. The rest of us would prefer some Japanese GTR type focus and German efficiency were added so that the whole experience matched the driving. Then you could fire it up and enjoy every drive, not just the 2/10 when the stars align and it all somehow works.

If you like hot lapping and racing the AI it's worth playing now. If you want anything like a stable multiplayer game, are looking for good VR experiences and prefer career mode it's best to wait. Given Kunos's track record I expect the driving experience to remain strong and improve but the rest of the game is likely to lag behind that experience.

a great driving experience but there are much better racing games that actually wor

I updated the rating now from 8 to 10 points - because the game is perfect now! The only thing I can mention is, that I had only one unreal engine crash in the last months. They update so many things: Meanwhile: The rating gets better and better; the physics are phenomenal; the performance was optimized; brakes are simulated and can cause damage; today starts a competition system,... Some people are mentioning the lack of content: But this was clear from the beginning. It's a Blancpain GT3 simulation. You can find the perfection in every detail of the game. And the changelogs for updates are pages long. Perfect! Thanks! Keep on going, Kunos! Update ending. Version 1.0.1:
Perfect physics. Day and night circle. Superb rain physics. Graphic is on top. At the moment: there are bugs, that will be removed by Kunos. At the moment: some settings are missing (for example: you cannot use your wheel and your keyboard simultaneously). Online multi-player works since update to 1.0.1 very good. Every car feels different. Tire simulation is one of the best - if not the best - on the market. I'm in love with the simulation. If the bugs are removed and the settings are added: The game gets a 10 out of 10. At the moment it's still a very, very enjoyable game. I love it!

Great racing game. Good graphics, nice physics and mostly stable servers. Love it.

Not bad but could have been so much better.
To start off your career you have to do three 10 minute practice sessions which cannot be skipped? I had already spent some time doing other stuff so I had already gotten familiar with the game, why do i need to spend half hour driving round the same track for no reason...

Then you got 1 practice session and 2 qualifying events but these can be skipped. You then get into a race and the AI isn't the worst I have seen but they act as if they are in a street racing game instead of a sim racer. They would always try and do dangerous overtakes on narrow corners and stuff.
The chase camera in this game is the worst I've seen in any game. It just made the game feel overall quite slow and boring. Plus its stuck to the back of the car which was annoying. If the car move the slightest bit the camera would move with it. There is a slider to lock to horizon but that didn't change much for me.
The controller binding options were really confusing and I couldn't work out how to change half the options. Like how the camera can't be controller right the right stick but instead the 2 bumpers.
The cock pit view with the steering wheel looks horrible on controller. When your steering the wheel looks like its glitching all over the place. You can turn the wheel off thou but then it doesn't feel right for me.
I haven't taken marks for the fact there is only around 30 cars or so in tis game as these devs haven't got as much funding as Turn10 or Polophony digital. But now ACC has sold over 1.4m copies I hope to see closer to 100 cars in the next game.
The graphics in this game are good and overall the driving is quite realistic and its great to see how well Unreal Engines driving can be. I hope AC2 is built on UE5 as it will be awesome to see how much better the driving will be on the new UE.
Overall I think ACC needs a better single player as I found the current career mode boring. I would much rather have a list of races that get harder as you progress along side the current career mode.
I really want AC to become a true competitor to Gran Turismo and Forza as they don't have any real competizione on their respective platforms. (See what I did their

Pour moi le meilleur jeux de voiture a ce jour, reste simple avec uniquement des GT mais extrêmement efficace pour le plaisir de jouer.

How can this be rated that bad. Its the best and most realistic racing sim out there, so much fun if you own a wheel.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is a real racing simulation, which is not something that can be said for most games. But as it is an advantage for serious driving fans, it is also a major flaw, as it will hardly attract new players. The biggest flaw of the game is it’s low and inconsistent frame rate, which might push off even the biggest fans if not dealt with in the near future.

It looks and sounds amazing, the driving is wonderful, but there are so many things still missing - namely enough content, playable multiplayer and technical polish.

Assetto Corsa Competizione pulls the limits of realism with a nice use of the Blancpain GT Series, but Kunos needs to improve the overall feeling of a videogame. The lack of matchmaking and a poor multiplayer system reduce his life in a long-middle term.
