It's not just vast, but flooded with quests and side adventures. There is always something to do in this game and, after that, there's always something more.
  2. Outstanding writing combined with a good plot, plenty of content, beautiful graphics, and an engrossing soundtrack place Baldur's Gate II alongside some of the best role-playing games ever created.
  3. Astounding graphics, sound, and storytelling combine to make the definitive fantasy RPG epic, one that will enthrall players for years to come.
  4. Great quests, solid story, very good voice acting, challenging battles, and engaging dialogue and characters make this an RPG that stands head and shoulders above the competition.
  5. For the first time in a single player game, I truly felt I was playing my way through a pen and paper fantasy campaign.

Epic in scope and delivery and should not be avoided by anyone, novice or veteran. This is most certainly my pick for RPG game of the year.
  7. A diversely beautiful and deadly environment filled with amazing characters and a myriad of possibilities. For any fan of the original, this is a must have – it's just too good to pass up.

I have this game since its release back at 2000.
When I first played it, I had a cultural shock ! ... I ended it with different characters, a Paladin (found Carsomyr +5 sword), a sorcerer (amazing class) among others ... played for many years.
19 years have passed and several other good games played (Deus X both original and Human revolution, Mass Effect trilogy, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Oblivion and Skyrim, the 1st Dragon Age)
Last week I found my original BG 2 DVD, in a shelf, dusted but functional.
I installed in my modern Window 10 PC, installed patches and run without problems !! (really cool for a 19 years old game)
I created a multi-class elf fighter/mage ... the games still shines like new ... nothing has faded.
Yesterday I stayed up til 5 o'clock AM ... I had to solve the Bridge district murders quest...

The first time I played it, I was blown away by the depth. So many storylines and sidequests! Amazing voice acting, especially of the main villian Irenicus. The UI is clunky and dated, sure, but this is a game made in 2000. The D&D rules are also a little daunting at first, but I got used to them and started playing with different combinations to see what characters I liked best.

Another big plus for this game is the dedicated modding community. The game itself is great, but if you want more challenge or more quests, you can install mods available on the internet. That shows how strongly people love this game, they spend so much time creating additional content to share with everyone.

BG2 is so good, I occasionally dust it off and re-install it, just to play it again. Even though I know all the story, and have even memorized where all the item drops are. It's that good, I can't stop coming back for another taste.

There will never be a single player RPG this exceptional again.

It's absolutely perfect, and it pains me that the greatest RPG I will ever play in my life is behind me.

Its strategic, the story is fantastic, the characters are marvelous, the game systems are stupendous, the quests are unbelievable, and I wish the Bioware that made this game still existed instead of the Bioware that makes passive entertainment.

If you're on the fence and you love RPGS, just but it. You will be so glad you did.
