Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 is grand in scale and scope, a testament to everything that's possible in the grimdark Warhammer 40K universe. Although a few issues still exist, it's still a stellar offering and one that Tindalos can continue to expand.

Set in Warhammer universe, Armada 2 is a deep, complicated and extremely entertaining strategy that offers a solid gameplay and tons of contents. That said, some gamers who are not familiar with the Warhammer universe or are not hardcore strategy fans, might find it a little bit difficult to get into the game.

While not quite a homerun, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 is a fun, tactical space combat experience with some nice story to boot.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 is a good surprise. It is larger, more varied and more epic than the first episode. The only problem is the lack of clarity of the interface, especially during big battles.

It’s a solid but not exceptional middle-of-the-road game with some UI hang-ups but a wide variety of factions and a solid amount of the old 40K charm.

But the streamlining of the UI resulted in a very effective, but compared to the first game rather bland UI design. The campaign map is vastly superior. Battle modes could be more diverse, and some features are sorely missing: Like picking which ships to place from which fleet. Right now you can only select the order the game picks the ships for you by putting one of up to three fleets in a fight first. This game is already very good and has a lot of potential to iron out some issues, absolutely recommended. Might be harder to get into than the first game for non-Warhammer fans, but also highly recommended for them. Expand

The campaign is intense with elements from 4x strategy games and it's less linear from it's predecessor there are also custom options of how you prefer to play the campaings like Domination or Cruiser clash type of battles. There are some bugs and feels a bit rushed to be released on time but overall this is a good game. I didn't test the multiplayer part that much because i prefer the campaigns but it's solid with only few bugs Expand

    The good:
Good campaign with interesting management and strategic choices.

    The bad:
The multiplayer fleet management is gone. There is no need to protect your ships anymore and the only mode you can play is "ranked". The persistent mode features got dulled down so much it feels like they went from "Fallout New Vegas" to "Fallout 4". Make it simple for the mass market and feel like every other soulless multiplayer.

    The ugly:
You can only play "domination" in multiplayer, where you have to capture points that don't even have a meaning. You win by "points" and not by destroying the enemy. There is no cruiser clash anymore. With the missing fleet management and no cruiser clash I cannot motivate myself to play multiplayer because players can just grief with escort ships capturing points instead of fighting.

With this in mind I will only play single player and in hindsight would have waited for a Steam sale instead of buying it now.

    Singleplayer: 8/10
    Multiplayer 0/10
    Resulting in 4/10
