Where the game shines is in its siege warfare tactics and deformable terrain. These elements add enough flavor to the gameplay that fans will find the game an enjoyable romp both online and offline.
A valiant attempt to try something new, and while it succeeds on a few levels, it fails on just as many.
I would say that the only way you’ll want to play this game is if your house got robbed, you lost all of your CD collection and the Besieger disks were the only ones left. In which case, I’m sorry for you.
In Besieger, a different approach to RTS strategy is defeated by poor execution and dismal AI.
Besieger is, all in all, nothing new; there is nothing that shouts creative genius, and in short, has all been done before.
Great if you like beautifully rendered landscapes, not so great if you like good A.I. and usuable controls. [Sept 2004, p.72]
