For the first time in a long time, a game has lived up (and in my opinion surpassed) the hyped that’s been created around it. Frankly, I’ll be surprised if BIOMUTANT is not game of the year.

I enjoyed my time with BIOMUTANT and I can’t wait to replay the game and see how it will play out if I make just a few minor changes to some of the decisions I made throughout the game.

Biomutant definitely has its charms: its post-apocalyptic open world is filled with lush environments and the combat encounters are entertaining, making for a fun game experience, albeit one that is sometimes a bit repetitive.

Biomutant is a competent open-world role-playing game featuring a charming atmosphere and some solid RPG mechanics. Sadly, it fails to stand out due to its by-the-books open-world formula and the sluggish combat system. While the game does work for the most part and there are some interesting ideas here and there, there isn't a lot that Biomutant does better than most open-world games out there, resulting in an experience that is somewhat forgettable.

Biomutant is a game with a true great potential but it just misses the mark on so many aspects. I hope to see Experiment 101 try to develop another game and see this potential through, in hopes that I won’t be disappointed again.

Biomutant’s positives ever so slightly outweigh its faults and with more time (and patches), it could grow into a much more entertaining game. Its unique world, extensive customisation and pool of interesting moves and tricks in battle make this game fun to play but for now, a colourful but empty world, a wealth of glitches, and dull objectives make it a tough sell.

Biomutant is what happens when someone makes an Ubisoft game, but without Ubisoft’s resources, experience, talent, or even willingness to take risks. With the exception of the art design, everything about Biomutant feels safe and familiar, but without the confidence or polish needed to make it effective. Safe, familiar, and hopelessly lost in the detritus-littered wasteland between design document and actual game.

An absolutely beautiful interesting world to explore. There is so much to do around every corner. It's like a post-apocalyptic breath of the wild but much more to do. One of the best combat systems in gaming that feels like nothing I've ever played. And I'm a big hardcore Souls type gamer. The world is beautiful and the characters are very interesting. The weapons are some of the best in gaming. The magic system is one of the best magic systems in gaming, which is always what I look for, a great magic system and man does this nail it. The Monster hunting in here is better than Monster Hunter and Witcher 3 and Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time. The story is good enough. But a game that has this good of a combat system and exploration you really don't need a story hens breath of the wild again. This game does so much right, I really don't have any knit picks. Do not do yourself a disservice and pay attention to all of the negative reviews. Give it a try for yourself. It's probably the most original game I've played in the past few years. The gameplay Loop is one of the most addictive I have ever had the pleasure to be addicted to. I have to pry myself away from this game and I can't wait to get back to it. Expand

Pros: - Art style
    - Customization, it’s really great.
    - The game looks stunning

    Cons: - Story
    - no voice acting. There is a narrator, but he never shuts up and he gets annoying to listen to. - characters seems to repeat the same things, just in different words, they also use weird words for things. - combat doesnt feel right. Theres no weight to your attacks. Powers look good visually though. - the world is EMPTY. There is nothing, at all. Very rarely do you even run into random enemies, this is one of the worst things along with combat being off. I do believe they could fix some of these things, but it will take a long time. I hope they do, because the game has potential to be a great game

In general, the story is rather bland, combat is not rewarding, and exploration is the most redeemable part, yet it too gets old fast.

The story of the game is rather simple. It's not long into the story before you know exactly what you're getting out of the game. Unfortunately, the narrator is by far the most obnoxious thing in the world. The pacing of dialogue is atrocious with most characters grunting for way too long before the narrator begins his dialogue and trying to skip the grunting often results in accidentally skipping the narration, that is the important part. Aside from that, the narrator just becomes a nuisance. You can turn him off, but after a point, I just cringed when I heard him talking again.

Combat is exciting and offers some variety, but is by no means that rewarding. Sure you can do flashy combos and cool moves, but by and large the reward for doing so is not worth it. You will take a ton of damage to do nothing other than look flashy. On hard mode, enemies are just bullet sponges, so I ended up just optimizing for damage because slapping enemies with the wet noodle of a melee weapon you have often results in the most risk or some stun-lock insta-death. This made combat a grind. Perhaps it will be fixed, but the problems are glaringly obvious.

Exploration is the most redeeming part of this game. Going from environment to environment was enjoyable with each new place offering something of value. Unfortunately, the lack of valuable rewards (especially at higher levels) and the repetitious enemy spawns turn this into an uninteresting grind yet again.

Before long, the game had hardly any merit left and I found myself abandoning it all together after around 30+ hours of game time and after completing most the story and many side quests. Perhaps I'll pick it up at a later time, but other games simply do what this game attempts to do, but better.

There's nothing innovating about it, which would be fine, if it wasn't just so damn boring. I swear I wanna watch the narrator burn a thousand deaths Expand
