It's hard to actually review Bright Memory, as it's not a game you can easily recommend, even for its relatively small price. But what we can definitely rate is a passion the developer has put into this project, while trying to give a new life to a slowly withering genre. We can only wish luck to the FYQD studio with their next game, which we will judge accordingly.
Bright Memory is one of the mandatory games for Xbox Series X/S. Although it's only the first episode of the full game, the work done here by FYQD Studio that combines first-person shooter with hack and slash is brilliant. The story is still a bit confusing, but it has so much potential.
Bright Memory is a game that brings us back to the PS2 era, when you could create a game that was just fun to play. However, it feels like a paid demo, and most of the things it does barely have any depth.
Bright Memory is a title with a very solid and fun gameplay but its rushed pace, technical problems and confusing setting make it a rather mediocre title. Keeping an eye on what Bright Memory: Infinite has to offer, this first episode falls short in every way.
Ambitious mix of shooter and slasher, but extremely short and technically only mildly interesting. As a demo it would be interesting, as a full-fledged game it is insufficient.
While Bright Memory: Infinite may end up being a more well-rounded gameplay experience, Bright Memory in its current state is arguably the worst title in the Xbox Series X launch lineup and even though it's available at a budget price and only lasts a couple of hours, it's still difficult to recommend to anyone.
As I heard, this game was developed by only one person and the first impression is just like “omg, it’s kinda bad, weak game design and e.t.c” but I gave this game a chance and completed it three times. And after that I really liked it, yeah, different bugs and other weak points remained the same, but I think that the concept is great, and “infinite” (full game) will be really good, give this guy a chance. Very surprised how I got from “0/10” to strong 7-8 (for a demo/concept), I will set 10 just to support the developer, stop review bombing guys and start give honest rating (I’m not saying that it’s 10/10, but not 2 or 3!) and give useful information about improvements that developer can make, peace.
This is a decent little game from a one person studios not perfect by any means but enjoyable and to all the ones saying doesn’t look like the footage shown at Xbox event that’s right the game game shown at Xbox was bright memory infinite this is bright memory I think it early access build of the game
I know this game was created by a one man studio, but I think we still need to review the game regardless of what, who or how much money the studio/developer had!
Honestly my first playthrough wasn't impressive, playing on my Series X I was expecting a little more given what was shown in earlier footage. The game literally feels like an arcade style title. Unpolished, horrible textures and atrocious character models.
I am impressed that this what developed by one individual, one person! But that will not make the experience any better.
Good and easy achievements though to bump up that gamerscore. And I'm happy it was short. I couldn't have played for much longer.
