It is this element of exploration and free moving that I sorely missed in the first part.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is a solid entry for the series, delivering an intense, visually stunning adventure that is best experienced on PC.

When Mercury Steam seemed to be about to produce a new successful title with very little effort, something went wrong and what we've got is not even the shadow of what we've been expecting in all these years. A conclusion that well-deserved another fate.

Underneath the unfocused, ramshackle design decisions and incomprehensible story there's a decent action game - but how much of it you're willing to endure for closure depends on how deeply entrenched you are into Lords of Shadow's lore.

The creators have looked everywhere and were inspired by everything, but unlike the competition there's no quality in their endeavours. Instead of a great hack and slash title they serve us a merely stereotypically dull piece without brains. On top of that, the game looks off colour.

A massive disappointment. It tells a confusing and uninteresting story in a bloated game that works against you at every angle. The combat can be fun at times, and reaches its high points during the various boss fights.

A mediocre button masher at best, brought down by absurd design choices and low production values. [Issue #240]

Visuals 9/10- Excellent art design and execution, well done animations, Rich, beautiful environments and atmosphere.
Sound 7/10- forgettable if well done soundtrack holds back what otherwise is an excellently voiced experience with quality Foley .
Gameplay 7/10- Lack of enemy variety, with some flaws to an excellent combat system as well as lack of platforming, combined with not enough puzzles for my liking hold back slightly what is an extremely fun experience, the tedious stealth sections at times could've been an improvement were they better executed and designed but otherwise it is another black mark lowering it's score
Story 9/10- Excellently written, solid concept and unique spin on the castlevania formula, it is at times quite predictable, but it is so well executed it makes up for it, it is truly heart-warming, wrenching and breaking at times. With truly unforgettable moments, there is better stories out there, but not all that many
    Overall= Solid 8/10

I liked the first one and I like this one too. I don't care to give a full review right now just had to state that I would score it 8 out ofI liked the first one and I like this one too. I don't care to give a full review right now just had to state that I would score it 8 out of 10 normally but because there are morons who give games 0's only because it's not as good as the original, I had to rate it 10 to make up for this stupidity. 0 means the game is completely broken and unplayable and enjoyment was impossible. When you give 0's to games that are clearly not even close to being that bad, your just showing that your either under the age of 18 and still rather stupid or your just rather stupid altogether. Its a lot better than the first one. but even though you can go back and visit places you have been, there really isn't any good incentive to do so. And yeah, the stealth sections are **** not real stealth but more of a way to add a pause between fights (makes you appreciate the fighting portions again)

I really like the first Lords of Shadow, with the Gothic setting, the fresh character design, the story, and the many diverse/fun situations. Lords of Shadow 2 is at its best when it puts the player in dynamic combat where you are Dracula, the Prince of Darkness, laying waste to whoever dares to stand against you. However, the stealth sections felt both tedious and illogical (why would the strongest vampire on the planet be afraid of some trash mobs, with big guns sure, and pushed to hide? I mean Satan and Death itself are afraid of him... I don't get it).

    Pros:
    + Great artistic direction.
    + Dynamic combat.
    + Great boss battles.
+ You play as mothereffing DRACULA, the DRAGON!!
+ I enjoyed both the Gothic & Sciebce Fiction settings.
    + Great voice acting.

    Cons:
    - Stealth sections.
    - The overall world map is tedious to navigate.
    - Could have benefited of more combo variety and powers (remember the animation HELLSING, that's a bad ♥♥♥ vampire).

    Verdict: B+

    Very good graphics

    Cons

Game wants to be too many things at once (stealth, modern, old, funny, serious)
Modern day setting ruins the atmosphere
Overall atmosphere not nearly as good as LoS1
Why must the main character look like a gaylord in his CSD costume?
The game’s mechanics make a half baked impression
    Sometimes stupid dialogues
Only controller buttons are displayed in the games help, even if you play with mouse/keyboard
Some pointless mechanics like freezing waterfalls and ice in a doom-like level . . . so stupid
Annyoing stealth scenes (Agreus in the garden…my god…worst stealth level in my whole life)
Stupid puzzles (I wouldn’t even call it puzzles)
Robot enemies don’t fit at all in the Castlevania world
You transform into a rat in the stealth sections …ridiculous
Inconsistent art style, some levels look nice like classic Castlevania while others (Theatre) look like Disneyland
    Level design is bad
