In theChaser is a first person shooter, built on the high-end 3D engine (CloakNT), in which main character passes through real environments and uses real weapons. Mars, 2044. The UN establishes MARSCORP (Martian Security and Economics Committee) under the leadership of Samuel Longwood. In the years that follow, the UN gradually loses control of MARSCORP, mainly due to the non-transparent licence policy of its director. Samuel Longwood uses his autonomous status to create vassal relations between the corporations and MARSCORP. The unshakable power position of MARSCORP is supported by the companies and thus they acquire additional rights and licenses. Samuel Longwood and his consortium become extremely wealthy from this arrangement. However, dissenting voices in MARSCORP begin to challenge Samuel Longwood's authoritarian policy.
They demand the dismissal of Samuel Longwood as director and a complete redistribution of the mining rights. But Samuel Longwood keeps an ace up his sleeve for occasions like this. [JoWood]

  1. It doesn't break much new ground, and it's not as polished as it should be, but it offers loads of thrilling, old-school shooter action.
  2. I don’t like the randomly spawned enemies, who pop out of nowhere, the bugs, the somewhat tedious levels that you get stuck on every other minute but there’s something about the gameplay that just works.
  3. Fun despite many of its flaws. The gameplay is straightforward, harking back the the genre's roots while merging elements of other successful FPS games to create something that's very playable.

The one major card it brings to the table is its size - I've never experienced levels as expansive as these. Many of them can take a couple of hours to blast through. [Nov 2003, p.130]
  5. It combines an interesting plot with nonstop action in a coherent matter. However, the complete absence of innovation, linear levels, tepid multiplayer, irritating vocal effects, and unspectacular artificial intelligence keep this title from reaching its potential.
  6. When you get down to the basics, Chaser doesn't offer any particular innovations in terms of gameplay...Thanks to several technical mishaps, topped with AI flaws, this game won't accomplish much with heavy FPS competition looming right around the corner.

FPS fanatics looking for a fix before the big guns are released might try Chaser, but all other gamers beware. You'll probably want a chaser of a different kind to wash down this title.

Just get a car and run over as many as you can...thats the only thing you have to do to get through a lot of the missions. The automatic Just get a car and run over as many as you can...thats the only thing you have to do to get through a lot of the missions. The automatic RollOverOnTheWheelsFunction on the cars makes it very unreal. The big + in this game is the feeling of getting hunted when you are on your way with for example their flag back to your base. Thats an adrenaline rush! It´s funny for a couple of hours but I seriously doubt it´s worth the money. So it gets a 5. The creators have definitly played paintball, because missions like "CaptureTheFlag" are like collected from there. Expand

PROS: Long game, breaking windows. CONS: bizarre plot and after some time you play it, it comes boring. Summa summarum: Not worth to buy!
