I'm rather enamoured by the unique flavour of online combat presented by Chivalry. It's fresh and fun, and like the very best games is easy to get into yet incredibly hard to master. I've honestly not had this much competitive online joy since Battlefield 3, and to think a $25 indie title can provide a level of enjoyment up there with a $100 million game like Battlefield is testimony to the skill of the developer.

Excellent multiplayer slasher, full of sound, fury and blood. More object maps, please. [Dec 2012]

Chivalry is Quake to War of the Roses' Battlefield, and those seeking a faster-paced bloodier experience will undoubtedly prefer Chivalry's type of steel. [March 2013, p.65]

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is up to a better start than War of the Roses. Torn Banner Studios have shunned any historical accuracy or character editing options, but their fighting system is easier to learn, while at the same time offering a surprising amount of depth. Dynamic rather than authentic, these skirmishes are much easier to enjoy.

It offers loads of fun and a simple but deep at the same time fighting system. Still far from perfect, but it could get closer to it with a few patches or updates.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is an interesting first person melee combat simulation, quite similar to the Mount & Blade series. The game made by Torn Banner Studios is funny and beautiful but doesn't have its own identity.

Compared to the similar War of the Roses you get tighter controls and more game modes, but it lacks in entertainment value.

I decided to splurge and buy a 4 pack on Steam, for me and my friends. The first few games I had I was totally confused with the controls (Even with prior experience with similar games), but after being explained the proper controls the game instantly became one of my favorites. The crashing and bugs are to be expected even after release due to being developed by a small indie developer. These problems are easily changed with a few hot fixes and patches which the team so far have been making quite frequently. As a user of Eyefinity, It requires a little configuration to work, which is actually way easier to setup then most games.

I can't wait to see what is to come from this game with the incoming release of mod tools.

I want to give this game a higher score but it would need more content or better game modes. I love the combat even if I get a bit frustratedI want to give this game a higher score but it would need more content or better game modes. I love the combat even if I get a bit frustrated at my sword passing through someone without dealing damage because, when you chop the whole arm off, you will laughing like a mad (wo)man. The combat could be worse though. So, I do give the developer some credit. This game is worth buying and playing. Expand

If you just want to relax (maybe you had a hard day at the office) and vent some stress, this is the game for you. Chop a few heads, arms, and legs off and you'll be feeling great in no time! Despite the game's entertainment value, it really lacks some key aspects. Most glaringly, I find that for casual gamers such as myself the game begins to lose its charm after you exceed the levels of rookie servers. Then you get to enter the world of over competitive players. I'm not too bad of a player but it's impossible to tell what servers can give you balanced matches. Since there's not matchmaking, and highly skilled person can drop into a casual server and completely ruin the balance of the game. Other minor annoyances include team killers, various small glitches, slightly over powered weapons *cough cough maul* and so on. However, I can't deny the game has gotten the core aspects down. I haven't encountered a better hack-and-slash/ melee game for ages. If you're willing to spend the money, by all means have fun, but don't expect anything extraordinary. Expand

Can you believe that after four years of beta, this game might actually be worse than what they started with? If you didn't like what consolesCan you believe that after four years of beta, this game might actually be worse than what they started with? If you didn't like what consoles did to Call of Duty, you can find more of the same in this game. This game STILL has bugs galore, and it is now being altered to drastically in time for an Xbox/Playstation release. They have nerfed the archer class to the point of complete uselessness, and the death knell for the class came over two patches AFTER they released data showing the archer class was already by far the least played class in the game. Presumably all in an attempt to create a fair environment for consoles and "auto-aim". Amazing concept marred by inept, amateur developer that lacks the resources to create a separate gaming experience on console and pc. Expand
