I really doubted the single player campaign in CoH2 could surprise me in any way, but the introduction of the strategic map made Ardennes Assault worthy of even being sold as a separate game. I’m impressed. [01/2015, p.56]
Very good replay value.
The meta map makes it all the more interesting to play.
The company upgrades are very good and give a ton of replay value.
Company Strenght makes you care more about your units.
Company Veterancy is a really good reward for the player, more resource income, higher veteran unit when made.
This was my pick for favorite game in the last half of 2014. Simply unbelievable in its difficulty, execution and replayability. It's not for those who like their hand held or "on-rails" games.
If you are into RTS campaigns against the computer then this is for you. Don't despair as it will slap you hard for even trying to play a little bit safe. Risk is rewarded and often a huge gamble but if it pays off you feel like you've won the lottery!
COH 2 is steeped in quality : he got rid of unnecessary additions of episode 2 and offers us an intense and gripping single player campaign. The series is back on track.
Ardennes Assault brings us one of the best campaign-modes ever seen in a Company of Heroes-game. However, if you don't own one of the first two Company of Heroes-games, the only thing you can play are the new single-player missions.
Relic’s attempt to create a more dynamic single player campaign is partially successful, but the systems of company permanence don’t entirely gel with the inflexibility of an Iron Man save system, and the map is light on grand strategy.
Again the effort that is has gone into making this is significant. Relic have much to be proud of.
This is a single player struggle- and i mean struggle for once you are concerned about every soldier lost as it will effect you going forward. Although there are ways around it the games save system is rigid and designed to enforce discipline. This is not a game for simple impatient types- they will give a score below 7 due to frustration. This an old fashion struggle for real strategy gamers.
The game itself, is a good strategic rts. You do not build a ton of units and swarm an enemy base, you use cover and fight meter by meter gaining ground to push to the enemy base. This xpack added a conquest style map system, reminiscent of the dune 2 planetary map where you could select your missions.
I would give this an 8 out of 10 if not for Relics shameful dlc grab. Lots of dlc, albiet not required, it is still something to consider. I got the xpack, on sale for 15 dollars, and it was worth about that price. Its not bad but its not "Great". The dlc grab is really turning me off but I love the game. CoH1, DoW2, and CoH2 are all good games.
always lack of resources! always lack of resources! always lack of resources!always lack of resources!always lack of resources!always lack of resources!always lack of resources!always lack of resources!always lack of resources!
