[A] shining example of what an RTS game should be: a mix of classic mechanics with new features and technology.

Company of Heroes 2 is curiously forgettable as single player, even though cliched horrors of war and overdose of fake accents try their best. As a multiplayer it shines, although beginners usually think otherwise. [Aug 2013]

It’s a beautiful, gritty and spectacular strategy game, and while it doesn’t do much particularly new, it doesn’t have to.

Band of Brothers of the Eastern Front. An atmospheric, intensive and exciting game proving a real-time strategy is not a dead genre. [Issue#231]

But despite some minor misfires, the core gameplay is stronger than ever, and while it may not break the kind of new ground the original did, Company of Heroes 2 is still a terrific RTS with a ton of content that no fan of the genre should miss.

Company of Heroes 2 might be the steepest tumble from game design genius to crassly missing the point that I’ve ever seen.

RTS fans should not miss this one because it involves a lot of strategy (setting traps, surviving blizzards and environmental effects I actually took out a tank by breaking the ice underneath it with a moltov grenade). This game is much more involved than an RTS like SC2 or C&C and I would have given it a 10 if it wasn't for the limited 'ways' to play multiplayer a small but legitimate weakness that can be fixed with future updates. I have waited for this game anxiously just to find a game that is full of regurgitated gameplay, regurgitated clinches and pretty much nothing spectacular.
Aside the story being nothing but a posterchild for "barbaric, savage soviets" cliches and disrespecting the people that fought that war, the game brings nothing significantly new when compared to CoH aside higher system requirements and snow.
My advice don't rush into buying this game yet (like I did), look for some other game or wait for the price to get lower if you want to have it. In the meantime play CoH, you won't loose anything important.

The game is so chipped cranberry that you won't know if it was the Canadians who made it or the American sons of Sam!

The campaign completely contradicts common sense and logic! Shooting down the NKVD, KGB, AND THE MOST FAMOUS BARRAGE TROOPS! An army that apparently didn't give a damn about its own lands and homeland, and a bunch of other stuff!

And yet, I'm sorry of course, but maybe I didn't notice, but where is the ELEMENTARY OPPORTUNITY to order the troops to lie down, and crawl without shooting, in everything that moves? I sent fighters to the rear of the enemy, I thought everything was OK, I probably already went to the camp, and then I look, and they died.... running to the goal in full growth, and shooting (as can be seen from the replay) at the enemies passing by)

The graphics are good in principle, but still feel like a Man of War, but with stripped-down mechanics.

But the network component, I was a little amused, but the players came across normal.

AND THE MOST INCOMPREHENSIBLE THING is that when you start the game, and exit it, the Language icon in the Taskbar disappears, and the language changes! You have to go to the Windows 10 settings > Language, and there put it in English, and then in Russian....

And yes! I was offended by the game)! Thank you, developers, for what I saw, perhaps my grandfather, who burned his own fellow citizens in the villages))!

The worst case of nazi propaganda!

The game Company of heroes 2 is a typical Nazi propaganda, well, Goebbels was more skilled and not so blatant like the creators of this game but essentially it’s the same way of falsification and misrepresentation of the events of the WWII. If the purpose of the game was to present the war from the point of view of the brainwashed Nazi soldier then you did a good job but then don’t try to present it like “historically authentic”.

It's not Red Alert, it doesn't take place in some fictional reality... Oh, wait, it does, EVIL JOSEPH EATING NEWBORN SOVIET CHILDREN, WHILE SIGNING ORDER TO EXECUTE ALL THE RED ARMY.

And you're not going to get Snowden after that. For sure.
