This is, in my opinion, the culmination of everything that has come before it. Boss design, enemy design, lore, environments, mechanics, it is all pulled from the games that preceded this and it all has its own unique spin. It is truly bittersweet to come to the end of this journey that started in February of 2009, but I can think of no better send off for the series than the one it receives in The Ringed City. This is a perfect piece of DLC to round off a great game and a once-in-a-lifetime franchise. I could not be happier with how everything falls into place at the end of the world, and I would highly recommend the trip to any on the fence about taking it.

Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City is a worthy finale for this game and the series in general. Taking every trick that they’ve learned over the course of the series and seemingly packing them into one final journey, The Ringed City is sure to please if you’re into the masochistic nature of the series.

A great content add-on that takes the best of the basic game and the previous games and adds great new features. The Ringed City excels in design, atmosphere, gameplay, boss fights. In fact, almost in everything that it offers.

Dark Souls 3: The Ringed City has found a way to revisit the past without a cheap reliance on nostalgia, wrapping up the story of Dark Souls in a way that will be satisfying for fans who enjoy digging into the rich lore the series has been building for the last few years. But you don’t need an encyclopedic knowledge of the Souls series to appreciate the satisfying twists and turns of this short, but exciting adventure, with its abundance of haunting, secret-filled locales and terrifying boss fights.

Because the only way to access the new DLC is to have finished the main game and/or its first expansion, From Software is obviously counting on players to be high level, committed fans, and ready for a final, "ultimate challenge." The Ringed City is exultantly that but at times -- especially in the longer, gauntlet sections -- the game's unrelenting parade of enemies and ways to die becomes unpleasantly fatiguing and a decidedly chore-like experience. Fans of Dark Souls who have come to love the series will appreciate most everything about The Ringed City and the ways in which it represents both the evolution and end of a very important franchise.

The Ringed City moves and ends a little too quickly--well before it gets all the mileage it can out of its setting and premises--but that's a small knock against what’s otherwise an exceptional send-off. A well of inspired locales and a renewed focus on the series' obsession with cycles, death and rebirth, and the passage of time, plus a few spectacularly designed and animated foes round out a worthy conclusion to a storied franchise.

Dark Souls III is supposed to be the last game in the series for quite some time, and it had an ending that left me very satisfied. So much so that I was apprehensive to play any DLC for fear it might leave an undesirable taste in my mouth. Thanks to The Ringed City that was not the case though. While it is less polished than its counterpart Ashes of Ariandel, it shows a willingness on From Software’s part to innovate until the very end. If you’re the sort of fan that gets lost in item descriptions trying to learn more about the world, then The Ringed City is something you can’t miss.

I was constantly trying to keep my jaw from falling on the floor after encountering incredibly designed enemies (from a game-play and aesthetic perspective) and to say the least, breathtaking landscapes. Thank you From Software for ending in the best way possibile this work of art called Dark Souls. Expand

Great Work, From. Would love a King's Field Re-Worked from the ground up.
Maybe included in a Demon's Souls remaster - as the 6th Tombstone.

Oh.. wait..The first minutes of the expansion are really good, I enjoyed it a lot. I was all time like WTF! Does monster are so **** cool! Oh.. wait.. They're gonna kill me! And then when I kill them another monster spawned. It was insane and I'm having great times with this expansion. This is one of the best DLC I've played ever by far. The bosses are nice and the last one made me cry, just a bit he he. So I recommend to everyone who has played the saga, guys, this is the best end for the game and I'm sure that you're going to love it. Expand

ItWhile Artorius is my favorite Dark Souls boss, this is my favorite Dark Souls DLC by far. To me it felt like a love letter to the fans. It developed the world towards fringe ideas best left forgotten and lead the character through an adventurer's journey facing epic bosses and uncovering how the unification and corruption of the world has changed everything. Fromsoftwares portrayal of scale is my favorite part and I can agree with others that some enemies may be a bit unoriginal I believe the bosses were all great. (save the pvp one...) New weapons and armor are super interesting and the story telling is great as well. It has a lot of throwbacks to older games but nothing too major that newer fans will feel left out. Definite recommend although if you want the whole story the first DLC may be necessary, albeit short and unsatisfying. Expand

The moreBefore I start this review, one should note that Dark souls 3 is my favorite game in the Dark Souls series, including Bloodborne. The more streamlined map-layout, the smooth combat system and the life-like bosses are all part of what has been one of the best experiences in my life. Therefore, did you not like Dark souls 3 in its essence, this review might not be your cup of tea.

The Ringed City is no different. The bosses show likeness to other bosses from other Dark Souls games, but at least the first boss creates a unique dynamic. The final boss follows suit with most other final bosses, but has a more frantic and drunken brawl style to him than the others, making him a unique challenge as well.

But the Ringed City is so much more than the bosses. As you venture forth into this hell-hole, you are faced with enemies which will pique your interest as to how they work and how you defeat them. You will face enemies which you will think to never overcome and at whom you¨ll scream your frustration. But as you figure out each puzzle, overcome every obstacle, the feeling that you play for, that feeling of triumph overtakes you and... Well. It's not exactly sexual but I you will probably need a change of pants.

To cut the review short, the Ringed City is very similar in style to the Ashes of Ariandel. It pushes the player to his/her limits, dancing happily around the border of unfairness, almost laughing at the player's despair.

But if you are a Dark souls fan and you liked the Ashes of Ariandel, The Ringed City is the place for you.

A worthy ending to the Dark Souls series, but one cannot help but feel that one more game would not hurt the player base, seeing as Dark souls 3 was such a success. But what are you still reading this for? Get in there! That hell-hole won't clear itself buddy. Oh, and good luck.

    You're going to need it...

EDIT: (SPOILER ALERT): There are 3 bosses in the expansion. 2 of them are incredible fights where your skill will be tested. Midir however is not fun, but a grind to get through. Nonetheless it is still a worthwhile expansion.
