Defector, although not without its flaws, is an action-shooter that takes advantage of VR very well and inserts narrative cues that should not be underestimated.

A wild, intense ride perfectly suited for VR. It lacks detail in certain areas, but this nonetheless is something special.

Are you ready to play the role of a badass secret agent? Despite some undeniable flaws, Twisted Pixel's game let you do it with style. Poor interactivity with the environment and mini-games can awaken abruptly the player from the feeling of "presence", but the variety of action and a fair degree of replayability make Defector a remarkable example of a virtual reality mix, balanced between adventure and action.

Defector is a fun, adrenalinic and satisfying VR experience. We suggest to play it if you have Oculus.

Take Oculus Rift S, pour three parts of Mission Impossible, one of 007, half of John Wick. Shake, do not stir, and you will have got a drink to drink all at once.

Twisted Pixel Games and Oculus have created a wonderfully immersive and polished VR experience with Defector. Your journey will leave you wanting more so much so that you’re almost bound to go back for seconds. The graphics, sound design, voice acting, and freedom of movement are a great representation of what VR gaming can be today, and everyone should give it a try.

Defector is such a mixed bag. The production values are top-notch as you’d expect from Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios, and Defector employs great ideas for an exciting adventure, most of the time. A little more gameplay variety would’ve been nice, jumping out of windows, rappelling down ravines, climbing the Effiel Tower in a suit, you know, stupid spy stuff. It should have been Oculus Rift’s answer to Blood & Truth, however, the experience just misses the mark.

Defector represents some of the best interactive elements in VR, with combat, gunplay, spycraft, and a little bit of puzzle work. While the wheels occasionally fall off on that puzzle aspect, and the story does feel a bit truncated, the ride is a blast while it lasts.

Defector is a solid experience who got everything to impress every players searching for some VR technical prowess. But after the first chapter it turns into a very dull shooting game.

Defector is a good, fun game at a very fair price point that offers some cheap thrills, loads of replayability, and a handful of truly thrilling moments that successfully let you live out your Bond, Bourne, or Mission Impossible power fantasy from the safety of a VR headset. But it could have been a whole lot more because that’s all it is: a highlight reel. It never digs deep enough, shoots fast enough, or runs far enough to be considered worthy of mentioning in the same breath as those spy thriller greats as anything other than a cursory imitation with a small bit of heart.

Defector is fun, but shallow mechanics and a brief, jumbled story keep it from being the appealing spy game it starts out as.

Defector serves up some high-octane set pieces that are clearly inspired by the myriad of Mission Impossible films, but is hobbled by a lackluster arcade shooter and toothless interactions with NPCs to boot. Its bog standard action movie narrative is mostly forgettable, but users may forgive many of Defector's cons considering its $20 launch price.

The controls and inventory system are broken.

The game is packed full of boring repetitive tasks to make it longer, such as rolling dice for 30 minutes so you can progress. The dialogue system isn't fun either. This is probably the worst game I've played in VR and definitely the most disappointing.
