The portrait of civilization beneath the ocean surface is designed for those who don´t require continuous action and detailed story, but rather explore the game world as pioneers, who also go easy on some flaws and issues.
Definitely recommended game.
People that complain about controls or difficulty they just have no clue and their rating and review rights should be revoked indefinitely. Its a damn submarine in a beautiful and dangerous 3D world, what do you expect to have? Street Figher controls? Wake up!
Lovely story, lovely world and world building, great game. Huge bonus, does not require tens of hours to complete!
Really just a fantastic game. Immersive and fun. I couldn't ask for more.
Others have complained about the controls, but I really liked them once I got used to them.
Diluvion is a gorgeous exploration game with an unpolished user interface and an uninspired narrative. Lovers of submarine exploration will love it, but gamers looking for a complete package will definitely feel something’s lacking.
Diluvion is a true beauty to look at and there are some moments that will make you sit back and just enjoy the view. To dive (pun intended) deeper into the guts of the game, however, shows a very flawed experience that can hopefully be fixed as the game continues to evolve post release.
I always wanted my own submarine and go on an adventure and now i can!
pros:
- Beatifull graphics and design
- fluid controls (gamepad) and dialoque system.
- exploring the seas is amazing
- beatiful soundtrack
- fun missions
-combat is cool and rewarding
- I love the landmark and compass mechanics in place really feels like finding your own way in the ocean which is awesome (and if you are really lost there are some nice fishes who will guide you to a landmark from which you can orient where you are)
cons:
- sadly no voice acting
- some fps dips here and there but few and far in between
- while the controls for gamepad are amazing and fun to use keyboard and mouse is a bit clunky
overall:
damnn what a fine game this is, if you love exploration, navigation and submarine combat this game is right up your alley!
This game feels like a trip to late 90's - early 00's PC adventure games; I couldn't help but be reminded of my first time playing Myst and dealing with a relatively clunky interface trying to explore a beautiful and quirky world. There's no way around it, the controls DO **** pretty bad and navigating between dialogue and actions in the game is akin to pulling teeth; however, this game has real meat hidden here with some thrilling submarine combat and some positively horrifying experiences mid-to-late in the game. I give this game the lowest "green" score for Metacritic for delivering such a wonderful experience throughout IMO while acknowledging the glaring flaws hampering it. Kudos to the small team that developed Diluvion!
I'm so disappointed. This game looked so promising. OK - it has quite good looking 2D art, nice mood, sound design and overall art style. But unresponsive controls, confusing 3D graphics and poor storytelling makes it hard to enjoy.
I'll return to this game in about three months, after all patches, maybe it'll get better.
Yup, that's a 2 rating and after 20 minutes no less; now let me iterate.
So I started in some kind of cavern, no exits and no big deal. I figured there must be a trigger to continue or a way to drill out, something; wasn't seeing it then lo I found some way forward (draw distance ****).
Than something about a crew member needing to talk(tutorial) cant exit or resolve this after, just locked into the sub 2d mode; then I quit. There are few options and no key mapping which I find to be a good reference for the controls when a game fails in this regard.
The screen to sub point of view is over the right garbage, which was garbage in every game that ever used it. I currently have it modded out for any game I play.
No save option because of a checkpoint system, yeah thats on my list of bad and stupid game design choices because when a save gets corrupted, you must restart; also it is ridiculous .
-cumbersome controls due to bad sprite position
-bad draw distance and onscreen clutter
-no in game reference for commands and no options
-no z axis movement buttons that I can find(needed by any game of this type that uses depth and altitude as movement)
There are improvements that can be beyond its issues as well,; a HUD display with functions could alleviate some issue but in all the game is on the low end to anything else Ive played in a year; It gets a 1 for function, a 4 for effort and a 2 for the game it turned out to be.
SummaryDiluvion is a 3D deep sea, Jules Verne inspired, exploration game with RPG elements and thrilling submarine combat. As the Captain of your own vessel, you must grow and manage your crew as you search for the secrets of the past in a hauntingly beautiful flooded world.
