  • Summary: Dino Dini is back and so is Kick Off! As the original advertising for the game in 1989 declared: "Playing it is easy, mastering it will take time - A lot of time". When you score an amazing header goal in injury time to win a match after coming back from behind, it feels like nothing on earth!

It's a 2d arcade football game. It's not Fifa and it never will be. What you get is single player, 2 player, a cup tournament and online play. There is no Messi or Ronaldo but there are 60fps of pure action.

This game is hard, there is no doubt about it. Hard to master, hard to get into. You can't pick up the controller and start scoring goals. Instead you need to complete the tutorials, you need to learn.

Kick Off Revival is a budget game that costs the equivalent of two pints of beer. The effects of beer wear off quickly but the love that Kick Off Revival keeps on giving.

It's become almost industry standard for old games to get a reboot and milk some money from old fanboys. Sometimes adding modern gameplay mechanics and a fresh coat of paint, and tuning issues the original had, it's possible to bring the experience to a new audience. When it's done right, it can almost feel like a brand-new game. When it's done wrong, it can be a cold reminder that it's not always easy bringing the past into the future. Dino Dini's Kick Off Revival may be one of the coldest reminders to come out this year.
