Wen dirt 5 was announced i was really exited to what the game was offering, since one of my favorite dirt games was dirt 3 this one looked like it was aiming for the same style of game , but oh boy i was wrong this is one of the most boring repetitive racing games i have played in the last 10 years i have no idea why reviewers are giving this game so many highs scores but imo this game isWen dirt 5 was announced i was really exited to what the game was offering, since one of my favorite dirt games was dirt 3 this one looked like it was aiming for the same style of game , but oh boy i was wrong this is one of the most boring repetitive racing games i have played in the last 10 years i have no idea why reviewers are giving this game so many highs scores but imo this game is total trash doesn't even look that good for a "next gen" game has many of the reviewers said.
Physics are super unrealistic even for a arcade racing game they are relay bad, The ai is more like a AS (artificial stupidity), This game could have been good but it turned out horrible.

Pay 2 Win crap, they are selling as DLC the best cars in the game. Mechanics is terrible, it's like predefined lines.

I have all Dirt games. This one is the only one I refunded after one day of playing. Best of the series are Dirt 2 and 4. Dirt 1 and 3 are meh. This one is straight crap. I will not list my reasons, check other negative reviews, they are all correct in their views.

A terrible game from developers who have no professionals left on their team. Racing game where steering wheel is not supported. How could you get to this? Bots that don't even have artificial intelligence. Fire the idlers and recruit real professionals who know how to make racing games! A shame!

A very disappointing game. I really don't understand why the critics don't consider these things when writing reviews, but they have pretty much ruined this game. The main things about this game that really piss me off is that this was obviously designed to bring in new gamers, with no consideration for the community that helped make them as a company, and on top of that they made a bunch of different versions of the game to sell as many copies as possible instead thinking about the quality of the PC version. This is typical, publicly traded corporation behavior that usually spells the beginning of the end for a beloved franchise, and so ultimately, at the end of the day, if this game sells a bunch of console copies, then us, as a PC community can go **** ourselves. Refunded. Terrible driving model (without steering wheel support) + all cars feel the same, terrible from technical side (demanding and looks bad to average), no car setup, shallow career AND with core game crying for patches, you can already buy an expensive season pass. Try it if you get it for free or if you really MUST, then wait until it's at least -75%, isn't nearly worth the priceRefunded. * Car variaty is severly lacking. You're basically driving the same few cars from start to finish.
    * Arcade physics have been taken too far and is a joke. In Gymhkana, they seemingly turned off friction, and in Path Finder they turned off gravity.
    * Career mode is the lasiest one I've seen in a racing game. There are just so many bland repetitive events.
    * The AI is a joke. They are trains on rails and seemingly unaware of your presence on the track. They are also cheating. even though they have the same car as you, or even cars with a lower performance rating, they can somehow rocket past you.

    Verdict:

The game completely lacks soul. It's a very bland and forgettable experience. After completing the final career event I uninstalled it and will never touch it again. Don't waste your money on this. Play Forza Horizon 3/4 instead.

I thought it was terrible at first, because it handles way too arcadey, much more so than my favorite in the series (Dirt 2). It only ever feels right on ice, which is a shame. But ignoring my expectations - that it would be a worthy successor to 2 - it's not a bad racer on its own merits. I quite like it after playing a while, now.

It's bright, it's fun, it's loud, it's beautiful. Gets repetitive with tracks and cars after a while, but the constantly changing weather feels amazing. There's plenty of game to keep you entertained.

Awesome graphics, great arcade gameplay (it's NOT a simulator), cool sound, nice soundtrack (as always), but there's little innovation. Ray Tracing support is really not worth it; it's incredibly limited and takes a toll in performance.

No crashes or performance issues. Running just fine in Ultra on RTX 2060 6GB. Really fun game to play.

Dirt 5 is just "dirt" easy and I really don't know why. No one who has played a whiff of arcade racing games would even lose in this game; meanwhile even 100 hours in Dirt Rally won't land you a constant top 3 in the game. On top of being poorly optimized and not really looking all that modern, it makes you say that Codemasters ruined their last title being an independent company.

With the recent updates to the game, it has made great improvements. It finally fixed my issues with my controller, and gave us more controller options for deadzones and sensitivity settings. With the recent updates to the game, it has made great improvements. It finally fixed my issues with my controller, and gave us more controller options for deadzones and sensitivity settings. However, the game still needs work when it comes to optimization, physics, and difficult curve before I can recommend it.

DiRT 5 is a mixed bag. Essentially, the best way I can describe it is that it's a more grounded, watered down version of their previous game, ONRUSH. (Codemasters Cheshire, who made DiRT 5, was originally named Codemasters EVO, who made ONRUSH 2+ years ago) However, it fails at what I wanted from a more arcade styled DiRT game.

Firstly, the driving physics and handling aren’t great. They feel somewhat floaty, and the handling is way too easy. I turned off all the assists, and I had an easier time controlling these vehicles than other, more arcady racers, like Gas Guzzlers Extreme. I’m talking about on keyboard too, which I’ll mention why I’m using it over controller in a later section. I honestly rather have an arcade racer like this challenge me with vehicle physics and handling rather than with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ rubber banding AI...

Secondly, the crashing physics suck. They got them right in ONRUSH, but yet in DiRT 5, hitting other vehicles feels like bumper cars. I’m not talking about ‘takedowns’ in ONRUSH, but it generally felt better bumping and hitting cars in that game. I know this ain’t a vehicular combat racer, but I want it to feel good for those rare times I end up smashing into players, or hell, they end up smashing into me.

Thirdly, the 3rd person camera is terrible. Again, they got in right in ONRUSH, yet in this game it jerks around at every little hit & bump. Also, it tends to clip on objects if they fly past it, causing the camera to jerk into the car. Could we just have the great 3rd person camera from ONRUSH, please?

Fourthly, what I didn't mention originally was the difficultly. Its weird, because some events can be really easy, yet others, like the Sprint ones, are really hard on the same difficultly setting. I turned it up multiple times, and I'm still really pulling out ahead in standard races but falling behind in others. I don't get what's wrong with the difficulty.

Another reason why I’m still giving this game a negative review is because it's plagued with some of bad technical issues. I don’t care that it's a ‘live service’ model game, or that it is being worked on for current gen, next gen, and PC. We are paying $60 USD or more for a game that should have been released in a polished state. Let's start with the PC issues:

•No window options (Windowed, Borderless, Exclusive Fullscreen, etc): You got to use ALT + ENTER to get into fullscreen, but it seems the game only runs in a borderless windowed fullscreen, so you don’t even get the performance boost of running in exclusive fullscreen.

•Forced TAA anti-aliasing: The worst anti-aliasing method ever, which makes the game look blurry AF and causes ghosting on the vehicles. It boggles my mind there is NO WAY to turn this off, or atleast, use a different AA method...

•Terrible optimization & pitiful graphics: My system is 5 years old (my specs are on my Steam profile), so I don’t expect it to be able to handle high settings, but I can’t even maintain a locked 60fps on all medium settings with the resolution settings all on 1080p. On all ultra low settings, I couldn’t even get a stable 60fps in a Gymkhana event in the Cape Town Stadium! For ♥♥♥♥ sakes guys! This game ain’t even that graphically impressing! ONRUSH looked not only better than DiRT 5, but also ran better than this on the PS4 Pro...

Like I said in the edit, while some of the issues that I originally listed were solved, but this game still needs more work before it can be really good. Its just still just too average mechanically and gameplay wise...

Interesting tracks, bright graphics, arcade physics, pleasure from driving in different classes of cars.

That's what we love the Dirt series for. But the 5th part slipped completely. At 3-4 there were already prerequisites, but they were still played cheerfully. 2yu is certainly hard to beat, it is the standard of the series. Part 5 has a bit of fun, the gamepad is almost fun to

Part 5 has a bit of fun, the gamepad is almost fun to play. The new modes (on ice) are great. Quite good saturated cards. Nice soundtrack. Smart graph (but not optimization). And that's all. If we take it apart by the bones, then there are in fact few maps (tracks), the car fleet does not make much sense, 1 car for each type of race for the eyes. The bots are stupid, even at maximum difficulty it is not difficult to go around them.

The main complaint is those. the state of the game.
    1. I went through all the parts on the steering wheel, and I want this one too, but the curved-handed designs still can't make support normally. I use Logitech Driving Force Pro, I agree, quite an old device, but it works great in DR2.0 and in all other modern simulators. And it still pleases with 900 degrees and a good return. In the same game, at first he stupidly did not work, but now with the last one. With patches, the game just crashes when you select the steering wheel in the settings.
    2. A huge number of bugs and problems for people, even just with the launch. And this cannot be cured for already 4 months from the date of release. (and someone else is branding Cyberpunk).

In addition to the steering wheel support curve, indistinct optimization, the game on the r7 3700x and 1080ti sags in places up to 40 fps.

The gameplay is interesting, but there are a bunch of stupid modes and poor dzhimkhana. I drove for 5 hours and abandoned.

In general, on the strength of 4 out of 10 points. I bought it for the full price. Sorry.
If when something happens that bugs are fixed, it will be 6 out of 10.

Dirt 5 is not an usual DIRT game, but it's as good as other arcade DIRT games.

I am not a long term fan of Dirt series so without comparing to previous entries - it's a fun and colorful arcade racer without too much depth. Tbh that is exactly something I was looking for. I have not experienced any crashes or bugs so far (20hrs in). Graphics are good (but not "next-gen" for sure), performance could be better.

Dirt 5 drives in a completely opposite direction to Dirt Rally 2.0. The driving model is disappointingly simple, and the career is just plain boring. At least there are many cars to choose from and hours to spend in the track editor. And the best thing about this game? Its weather effects are simply breath-taking.
