The worst game in this genre. Awful balance. Random makes result in this game, not you, not your tactic or strategy

    In this type of game,
Underlords maybe the best and the most imagination one !
can be played both on Pc , Mac ,Mobile~
but it cost too much time for per game shot.

Definitely the best auto battler out there. Great lore filled single player, duos, knockout, fantastic customization options and the price of the battle pass is ridiculously low. Devs very active on social media and take feedback seriously, they clearly love this game.

This is a good game not deserving the salt it receives: ever-changing meta, decent SP, interesting mechanics and good iOS/macOS client. For a couch gamer like myself, this game is a great companion while watching something else. I recommend it as a companion-game more than anything else.

I probably would rate it higher if valve had actually tried to accomplish something other than just flipping dota assets and making a game around it. It these were complete new characters, and the system wasn't so full of RNG bull crap then I would certainly recommend it strongly... But as of right now, it's just meh at best.

Seriously, I'd rather play Direct Strike in Starcraft 2, you can adjust your troops according to your enemy (since you can 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3) the factions and commanders are pretty easy to learn and predict, there is free and premium customization and the mod is FUN because there is almost no RNG. Both Starcraft 2 and Direct Strike mod is free and you can install the mod within half a minute inside the game.

I might try the Auto Chess in Epic Games store, but seems like Dota Underlords is not for me at all.

I went full evasion team and wiped out everyone, only to lose 2hp left opponent with mages. Next patch comes and mages are useless and everyone is building tanks, it's just a mess, and what's really the end goal there anyway? Everyone will eventually just build balanced out setups, with fringe groups of too much casters or healing will die out against-the middle guys who can do everything decent. Either it's going to be a rock-paper-scissors with 8 players where you're likely to get **** in the end game, or you're going to have a bunch of fork-spoon-knifes fighting a bunch of rock paper scissors and they'll eventually become victorious and everyone starts to adapt into them, and then meta changes again to favor some niche 9 man combos and by the time you get used to that, the balance changes once again... what's the freakin point? I'd rather play MOBA if I want to try out different playstyles than having some units trading in blows only to instead of just tanking a lot using a spell, resulting pretty much even situation anyway.

It's like playing Hearthstone, but instead of playing against just 1 player, who (unless he's a friend) you have no idea what type of class he has, with a predetermined deck, you're playing vs 8 with completely randomized deck, and any given time you could get **** on by Spell Power Rogue or Late Game Druid, it's just a big mess.

Even the idea that this game has any connection to actual chess is idiotic. In chess you control your units and try to outsmart enemy moves. In this game you put the warriors in front of the line and... yeah that's all there is to it.

Everything else comes to managing "economy" by not spending until you hit 50 or try conserve some gold while still upgrading your units so the unlucky ones get penalized by lack of gold which further enables the winners to exceed on levels and units. If you outspend early and don't get anything useful, though luck you lost, it just takes next 30 rounds to find out.

There's also too many players in the game. You'd have far easier time to adapt to enemies builds if you were only against 1-2 players, maximum of 3. I mean with up with that? Does every game have to try to mimic Battle Royale games where victory is extremely rare if it happens at all and there's always going to be couple of the lucky ones making video clips and claiming to be great in the game, when in fact they're just marginally better than average Joe Nobody.

The game is also too slow early. You could start the game at 50 hp, 2 items, and have everyone to gain 10 gold every single turn with no interest benefits and you wouldn't lose a thing from early game outside of couple players getting way ahead because they got lucky.

Also it becomes hard task to manage upgrades above level 2, and sometimes you get punished hard by attempting to finish that last unit level 3 even when nobody else has those units on the board, and even when they did the tools to detect that are very poor.

Then there's the lack of actual in combat abilities. I mean there's so many units that you could figure out to make some item to player to use during a fight, like maybe allowing player to personally trigger 1 unit to do its ability in advance, or something of a sort.

At least this game is better than the "collect your resources and wait 2 hours" mobile games but that's not much to ask. Most of the mobile games are automatically 0 score anyway (not saying there aren't decent mobile games or PC ports out there).

    Suggested fixes:
    - Reduce player count to 2-4
    - Remove money management because it penalizes people with bad luck on early
    - Reduce the reliance on luck by cutting the half benefits from 3 star units
    - Allow better tools to detect how many minions enemy has instead of just offering you details of how much you have, I mean you must already know right...?
    - Make fights more interactive by making abilities outside of minion control into the game
    - What's up with 1 item limit per hero? This severely limits options for strategy like adding double mana with double speed, or lifesteal + speed mask with B.F.Sword. 1 item does absolutely nothing and DotA is known for it's items...

It's very much a strategic luck game, as you'll have moments where a bad draw of characters will cost you the match. However, where the game shines is how a skilled player can even make a bad set of characters into a great combination. It's simply thrilling. The game is filled with content, as it has multiple game modes to hold you through. With duo, challenging missions and quick battles giving you hours of fun. In the main mode, however, matched could last up to an hour so it's patience but one that is rewarding. Presentation wise, the game is simply great. Colorful, great animations, amazing music and audio. For a free to play game, it's simply excellent. The only downside, is that the game still needs a bit of work with balancing but it's surprisingly well-done.
Overall: Dota Underlords, will give you hours of fun. It's about skill, but also luck, and yet that's what makes it so exciting. With top-notch presentation, I can't wait to see what the future holds for this promising title.

People might think that the game is luck-based but that is totally untrue! On one hand it shows Valve is at least trying, but it doesn't mean much when they're just passing the torch of a broken mechanic to another alliance/character. Expand

I'm a Magic the Gathering player that loves this game!

It takes the best format of Magic and turns into a very smooth online 'auto-chess' game that has the perfect combination of luck and strategy. The developers seem to care a lot too with regular updates and maintenance. I played it for months in Beta and have found the $8 or so Battlepass now that it is in release very good value.

Dota Underlords is pretty cool and addictive game and is probably the best autobattler out there.

First of all, it's about the way the it handles basics. There are no item recipes, random item drops, even neutrals are gone here - you get one item that you like out of random three (and you can reroll instead to get another three). This can guarantee you that you get item that you like more. The game is fair even if you're behind (and playing from behind is an actual strategy) without weird carousels and other out-of-place stuff. The main gameplay works perfect in this regard.

The "random" formula itself is far from being "pure random" and "luck". The actual game requires you to have a good strategy, a good use of your gold resources and a good priorities. You don't just get things by pure luck: all players in a match have a shared pool of heroes (so you have lower chance to get popular heroes that everyone is going for), you get higher chances for better units if you have a higher level (so you need to understand when you want to go for levels and when for new units) and you get money for both of these when you don't spend it mindlessly. And even when everything is not going as well for you - you can get a reroll option which compensates that.

The game also has pretty good tutorial, bots AI and a lot of quality of life improvements. ALl of that makes learning the game and keeping up with it easier.

Another great thing is addition of Knockout game mode. Autobattlers are clearly at their best as mobile games, but at the same time matches usually take way too much time and strategy to play them and normal matches usually last for 30-40 minutes.
BUT Underlords has the Knockout mode - the "turbo" of autobattlers. It is the fast and a bit more casual version of the main game mode and it's perfect. Match lasts for 4-10 minutes, you can just play it on mobile to kill time.

There's even a more challenging competitive mode - Duos, where you play as a team of two players. And that allowes you to have fun with your friends.

People tend to point out that "it's just a cheap lazy game mode rip-off with dota assets that brings nothing new", but the truth is - it already brought to the genre formula a lot of improvements and it's far from just reusing Dota assets. While there are hero models (which are a bit changed anyway), you have a ton of new art, models, characters, sounds and responses, even lore. And reused models are just like 5% of it.

And so we came to the actual Underlords. The current implementation of the Underlords allowes you to choose one of four only after a certain round and you don't get the same set every time since every Underlord has two different playstyles - and there's no guarantee you'll get the playstyle you want, but you can change your playstyle and strategy with what you've got.

There are also Battle Pass and City Crawl. They are not required to play the core game, but they are important pieces of it. Battle Pass brings a lot of new content and cosmetics (and joy of getting them) which in turn makes playing so much more fun and make the board feel alive.

City Crawl is, well, a city crawl themed campaign and is divided into three kinds of missions: puzzles (you solve a puzzle with a set of rules and against a set of enemies - you win), then you get some challenges against a thematic opponent and then you get a challenges that you complete by playing matches against people or hardcore bots. This thing not only lets you to feel all the mechanics and learn to make a good team composition. It also provides some interesting challenges and brings a lot of fun.

So all of these things just make the game feel great for me. After it came out of beta I didn't really feel like it was missing something and was bad at anything. You could probably say something about balance - but you still have City Crawl, and the devs are actively listening to community, communicating with players and release balance patches pretty often, so balancing is not really an issue. You also get a "seasons" system and the Underlords team had plans to have 3-4 seasons each year, and each season changes the roster of available heroes and alliances.

Then you also get an ability to actually play it as a mobile game, get your non-dota friends (or just jump in and have fun without playing dota), it also allowes you to play with your friends as well. The game brings joy, the game brings challenge, the game brings these little details that show how the devs love their game. It's all here and you can enjoy it.

Warlocks got deleted, and so did bugs (weaver, broodmother etc). The amount of 3-stars is not really the only thing that wins, but certainly a player having 6 3-stars will win against someone with only one. The systeam of damage calculation is often not counting properly - my two-star furion dealt 1 damage to enemy player instead of two damage. The AI targeting is also **** up. Getting stunned resets the target for autoattacks - even if the attacked unit has less than 5% HP - your unit will change his target after stun. And so you lose another HP because of the moronic system the game has - or rather the lack of a system as everything is random. Searching for a match sometimes takes longer than the match itself. DotA underlords defines this genre. The declining userbase of the beta times are hopefully over. The quality of this game is unmatched by it's competitors.

This game is getting better and better after each updates. City crawl and knockout are fun ways to play but I prefer standard rank matches.

its an alright game. Ive played for about 140 hours and there a many pros/cons. First of all, the game is well developed. It runs mostly problem-free and looks fine. It gets regular balance and content-updates. Its free to play with optional monetization if you choose to.

The big problems with this game lie in balancing of heros/alliances/items. Because of this awful balance, in order to prevent everyone from playing the same combos every game, they introduced another frustrating mechanic: The shared hero pool. It means that you can (and have to in ranked) deny other players their desired strategy by purchasing and selling towers they would require. This is widely considered frustrating for all participants.

This game is only fun, if youre playing with bad players unfortunately.

the game is simple and complex at the same time, for an autochess it’s a good game, it has several modes that don’t make it repetitive and nauseating, it has good graphics in addition to working well on any machine and cell phone, cool game to pass the time, fun and fast to learn mechanics

How about fair random? It's not about valve, on highest ranks day by day you will realize that. What's the difference between this and dota? No difference, here you will take your 5000 points during one month, and all the time you will play against the system. From 5k to 6k I'm trying to get during one f*ckin month. That helm will save your opponent's

That helm will save your opponent's life and turn the match.
If there will be only one player, whos desk is much better than yours, you will play against him every second game. 6 times I've played during 20 rounds and lost on eight place. Cause he collected five that blood bound things and try to kill that.

Edit: After the global update, Valve decreased my mmr from 6K to 3K and set TBD games. Also, they have added lots of changes, so I was literally lazy to learn everything from zero deleted and didn't open the game yet.

The game aims to produce massive shots of dopamine/adrenaline because of RNG and limited time but since the mechanics are so buggy it often leads to frustration-full-throttle. If you require players to do multiple things simultaneously and give them bugged mechanics, just f.u.

The Underlords themselves, among with a bunch of different changes in game mechanics and a robust progression system, make Valve’s auto battler a compelling evolution in the genre. [05/2020, p.66]

Dota Underlords is a diverse and constantly captivating experience where no match plays out the same way twice. Having been with the genre since it was a custom map mod, it's heartening to see it executed as well as it has been here. Outwitting your opponents and the odds through clever thinking is always immensely satisfying, and the game's complexity means that there are plenty of interesting strategies to try. Dota Underlords is a wonderfully robust and well-crafted strategy game that is very easy to lose yourself in.

DoTA Underlords has a confusing interface and it is too much unbalanced to work properly.
