Having long become comfortable with her utopian society, Winter is surprised to learn that there are other worlds in other planes of existence. These worlds are quite different from hers, ranging from troubled, to dystopian, to futuristic or fantastical. However, they are all riddled with problems that, if not resolved, may adversely affect her home world. She is chosen to become a "mediator", charged with the maintenance of order in these chaotic planes, and so enters a vocational school for training. Episode 1 details her second shadowing of a seasoned mediator, only a few weeks into her first year. She and her mentor enter a world seemingly much like their own, except for this issue of "poverty" with which Winter has difficulty understanding... Expand

Dischan Media confirms all its skills in the visual novels genre, by releasing Dysfunctional Systems, now also on Steam. If you like this kind of game, you can't miss this first episode.

I bought it on sale on steam for 2 dollars, and it's worth every penny. The characters are in-depth and interesting, the game left me with lots of questions after completion and the choices made me tear my hair out (not literally, thank goodness). Those two things are what make the game so real for me. I also love the way that my choice may affect me in the future and I cannot, cannot wait for the next episode! Dischan, give yourselves a pat on the back, you've outdone yourselves! Expand

There's also some questionable material floating around in its "extras" gallery which is a pity because it detracts from what seems to be a truly interesting universe to explore. In fact it's so good that I keenly await the release of the game's second episode provided it will be around the same price of $5. Expand

I really like the nice art and good music. However, the main thing for this genre the story I didn't like much. I think of it as a pretty naive or even childish, I just couldn't take it seriously. The completion of this episode took me 2+ hours. Expand

Even by interactive novels standards, this is simplistic in both story, graphics and what little interaction there is apart from moving theEven by interactive novels standards, this is simplistic in both story, graphics and what little interaction there is apart from moving the story along. There's things to like here, the music is nice, the graphics are nice, and there is a good germ of a story here. That's probably enough for fans of interactive novels to buy it. The downside is that there simply isn't enough change to keep those visiting this genre interesting. Characters do actions in the story, but remain rooted in the same position on screen. The story is not deep (been done many times before and better). The characters can be viewed as real or annoying, depending on your view of them (the latter for me). There's only one choice really, and there's no speaking (in English anyways), it's all reading text. Get it cheap, cost out how much you'd spend for 2 hours of your time, and space-bar click through the story. Not the worst way to spend 2 hours. There's supposedly a Chapter 2 due out some time, but a repeat of these basics would be tedious. 2 hours is doable, 4+ or more, not so sure I'd go there. Expand
