Its progression system stifles it a bit early on, but regardless, Evolve is a deeply rewarding multiplayer experience that packs both brains and brawn.

It lacks variety in the long run, but with the right group of people around you Evolve is a great romp with beautiful visuals.

Turtle Rock delivers a solid multiplayer concept, which is original, accessible and deep. Playing with friends is indeed a great experience, but we think the amount of content might not be enough.

There’s not a huge amount of content in Evolve compared to many unlock-led games, but by keeping things tight the game always stays focused on what’s important: the thrill of the hunt. The almost absence of variety in the map design may well hack down Evolve’s lasting appeal, but what’s here in the main game is perfect for many great hours.
  5. Did Turtle Rock succeed in laying the foundations of 4vs1 genre? For the most part yes, yet they have too much riding on a person playing as monster – basically, he’s the one who ultimately determines how interesting the game will be. [April 2015, p.58]

I liked Evolve. It devoured 20 hours of my life without my even realizing (unfortunately due to matchmaking issues I spent a substantial part of that time looking at loading screens during attempts to connect to a sensible match). I will never love it though, even if I acknowledge Turtle Rock’s courage in blazing trails, their mastery in AI programming and artistic taste. [04/2015, p.42]

As an overall game, it offers a basic shooter with a nice gimmick, and I do think you can gather some friends together to get an afternoon’s worth of laughs out of it. I don’t believe there’s enough mileage to have those laughs regularly, though, and certainly not enough to where I’d recommend rushing out and getting it so soon after launch.

Don't listen to the ppl complaining it's too pricey or whatever. It is exactly what gamers expect of a shooter game to be - it is brutal, epic and to the point.

The first people to come complain here are usually the ones who did not understand what they are getting into or what the game is supposed to be like.

It is the top shooter of 2015! Mind my words.

Awesome game.I expected much less, especially because it was very over hype and got it for 29.99 at Christmas but worth it. Surprisingly easyAwesome game.I expected much less, especially because it was very over hype and got it for 29.99 at Christmas but worth it. Surprisingly easy to learn (for me at least) and a bit repetitive but overall it's a good game.I can't stop playing it.

PS.:ignore all the DLCs and the butt-hurt the DLCs causing. The game is not for everyone but doesn't deserve the hate it got.

There isThough scenic, with decent voice actors, several unlockable Hunters and Monsters, and eclectic design, Evolve has some major issues. There is no real campaign mode. You CAN run a solo game with AI controlling the other four characters, but it gets repetitive very quickly when you have to grind to unlock the sequential characters. To move up to the next tier, to unlock the next character in the sequence, you must obtain a certain level across your gear-set. My meaning is that, if you want to unlock the second Assault class Hunter, then you must level up all Markov's weapons and abilities. Though you may favor certain items, you must use everything to level up. So if you dislike using his Arc Mines; unfortunately, you just have to grind through if you want another character. It isn't skill based, just time.

As for the complaints pouring in on all fronts, the DLC. Yes, everything beyond the Season Pass is all cosmetic (Monster skins and weapons skins. Nothing to alter the look of the Hunters, themselves), but it is still needlessly expensive. Especially when you see the extreme lack of singe player content and customization. The customization, other than the weapon and Monster skins, is limited to the player emblem. Not exactly satisfying. You cannot exactly make your character your own. They should have taken a lesson from Zombie Studios' free-to-play, Blacklight Retribution. At least when using Blacklight's "Hero" characters you can select your weapons and skins can be used for weapons, gear, AND characters. It even has more content than Evolve. Which brings me to the multiplayer.

My verdict: It is obvious that Evolve is meant to be played only in multiplayer, why else would the "campaign" be nothing but AI controlled (poorly done, at that) version of the multiplayer. However, there seems to be an issue which it not allowing some players to use their purchased skins in-game. So don't count on all of your friends joining you soon. If fact, I foresee a massive flood of traded copies arriving in your local GameStop. Pick it us cheap, it may be worth a few buck (if they can work out the bugs).
