Perhaps the strongest aspect of Fallout is that it is ideal for RPG newbies yet at the same time provides a depth of role-playing that veterans can really get stuck into. It also has the best replay value of any game I've experienced to date.
  2. This is one of those rare games that oozes quality from every pore.
  3. The story is so well developed in this game you'll wonder why you've been playing mindless shooting games like "Quake." When you start the game you'll be treated to with one of the most chilling, well-written introductions a game has ever been blessed with.
  4. Above all, the NPC interaction and voice acting are the best in any game to date. This game is possibly the best investment an RPG fan can presently make, and will prove entertaining for countless gaming hours.
  5. This top-down RPG is without a doubt the best PC RPG we have played in years. That's not an exaggeration. Years. I can't think of another game that comes even close to Fallout's excellent character generation and skill system, great story, and classy delivery.
  6. Fallout's detailed graphics, compelling plot, and intuitive gameplay should deservedly broaden its appeal beyond the hard-core role-playing game audience. Put simply, Fallout may be the best role-playing game to be released in years.
  7. A decent RPG where you can indeed actually advance your character and choose one of many paths through the story.

It's a game that takes some time and dedication to get into, but once you do you won't be able to stop playing. The choices are limitless and the story is absolutely fascinating. As you fight and talk your way through the wasteland you will notice that the decisions you make shape the world around you. Fallout is a game where there are no rights and wrongs, there are simply choices and consequences. The graphics might be outdated and the game might not be as stable as it once was, but if you haven't played it yet I strongly recommend you try it out. I guarantee that you won't regret it. Expand

I just want to say that this game is awesome, has a great story and is just a great RPG overall. It is a shame what Bethesda did to Fallout 4, but Fallout 3 was better than Fallout 4 in many ways anyways. I hope Bethesda has learned from their mistakes in Fallout 4. Expand

OH MY GOD. How can anyone dislike this game? If your PC bugs out then get rid of your friggin viruses. No replay value? If you don't changeOH MY GOD. How can anyone dislike this game? If your PC bugs out then get rid of your friggin viruses. No replay value? If you don't change the way you play it, then I guess it could seem so.
This is a top cult classic game, which rocks the socks out of any other game ever made. PERIOD.
I'd bet the reason "new kids" won't appreciate it is because they have no patience these days.

World War III lies decades in the past. The world was blasted to ruins by nuclear warheads and the survivors' descendants have begun to slowly rebuild, but your isolation in the vault makes you a stranger in a strange land.

In Fallout, your choices have consequences and your character is what you make of him or her, not just a race/class combination. Couple that with a believable antagonist (in the context of the game), B-movie shlock monsters like super mutants, radscorpions and deathclaws, over the top death animations, the dark humorous contrast between the blind pre-war optimism and the current post-war state of affairs, a 50's retro-futuristic aesthetic as well as a moody soundtrack by Mark Morgan, and you get one hell of a game. Combat is devoid of challenge but entertaining, in no small part thanks to the death animations.

Compared to its direct sequel, Fallout is shorter but has a more tightly focused plot and atmosphere. It also features fewer pop-culture references and easter eggs. Finally, I love the ending slides narrating the impact of your journey on the people you've met and places you've visited. Fallout is good stuff.

And finally, when FO2 hit the shelves, i hit the stores, and in the third one got a copy!!! Yeeeey! Boy, was i not disappointed! There weren't many changes, but the additions made for an excellent successor of the grandiose original title. Loved every second of the game!

What happened? Where have these games gone? Why we rarely have such ingenious consistent addictive game development today? Or am i just being nostalgic? :)
