Sep 18, 2020Not even close to matching the original. Awful in all ways but graphics; stick to the original Fantasy General.

Sep 6, 2019Build up an army of bear riding barbarians and trolls to show the conniving undead empire scum what's what. Thanks to the "weapons" system, no unit is ever completely useless and you can take your army in many directions. Tactically and strategically engaging, this game lives up to it's predecessor.

Sep 12, 2019Quite deep and really enjoyable tactical turn based game with a nice twist in the setting that feels a bit fresh und unspent

Sep 16, 2019Did you play Fantasy General 1? If so, this game plays, looks, and feels exactly how you remember Fantasy Genera 1. Not how it actually was, but how it exists in your memory, ever green, but here for you to enjoy in the modern day.

Sep 10, 2019A sequel as it should be: taking the original game and adding to it / improving features.

May 18, 2020A poor successor the fantastic original. I return to the 1996 game frequently and was disgusted how inferior Fantasy General II is; like a dumbed down rpg lite game with pretty graphics and agonizing pacing.

Dec 22, 2022Everything that's good in strategy games in one game. Very worthy successor, totally exceeded my expectations. Huge fan of the original fantasy general, I came in a little sceptical but was surprised to see such a great strategy game. New features improve the game in every possible way, great inventory system, skill trees, just awesome!

Game World Navigator MagazineDec 6, 2019When it comes to reimagining decades old games, there are only two options: change the graphics and release it as is, dated gameplay and all, or keep the general idea and build everything from scratch. Not surprisingly, both of them lead to an uphill battle. [Issue#241, p.46]

CD-ActionOct 25, 2019For a turn-based strategy battler the scenarios have a quite dramatic flow to them. And the game only gains from it. Even escort missions cease to be just battles and it pays to devise interesting ways to break through the enemy lines [12/2019, p.48]

Oct 23, 2019A very pleasant turn-based strategy set in a strange world, full of tactical possibilities beyond the traditional “rock, paper, scissors” model. What’s more, there are even RPG elements and dialogue choices!
