I'm going to give it a 10. One of the best visual novels I've ever read and I've read quite a few, even several 100h+ ones. I'll talk about critics reviews here.
*First, it is just a first episode of a long story, but that does not diminish it's worth anyhow. It feels complete in the particular story which this part is dedicated to.
* Second, the writing and the characters are great. I get why one might call it disjointed, but it didn't feel so to me. I didn't really find faults with character design.
I freaking love this game!!!
fault milestone one is for me the first visual novel without nudity and focuses mostly on the story. I can't understand why ms1 received so bad reviews from official critics - just take a look at the steam reviews: more than 95% are positive according to the steam store page.
i rate a solid 10/10 for it
Story: 9.5
Art: 9
Music: 8
Play duration: completely depends on how fast the reader is (it took me ~10 hours)
I purchased the game after a friend of mine recommended it to me. After the first few minutes i was not able to stop reading it - i was so amazed by the story (fault is very different to other vn's like the etchi stuff). After completing the first milestone i quickly purchased the second one and over a weekend i finished the two games.
the only real downside in my opinion is that the release cycle of new episodes take around two years (for such a short playtime its a very long time). but after i have known the nice people from AiD (the core consists of just 3 members!) i was just amazed how just so few people can create such installation (in a positive way).
Vilserio!
(No Spoilers)
Story Richness: 10
Art: 8.5
Music/Soundtrack: 10
Length: Fast (Like 5 or 6 Hours) depending on how fast you read
I first purchased this game awhile back because it was on the summer steam sale, and the art looked to my taste and didn't think much of it.
I started going through it a few days after purchase and when i first opened the title screen, the bgm was very fitting to the subtle animation.
Moving on, i played for about an hour and was confused with some terminology etc, but after i played past what i consider the beginning of the story, everything really kicked up.
What started out to be something i thought would have been a sub-par experience turned spectacular. The BGM and the story was very rich and the balance of both complimented each other very nicely. Thank god i had purchased both games at the same time. Best pocket change I've ever spent.
As i write this review i already have muv-luv, which is rated #1 on the vndb, but i've barely put any hours into it. And until i read that, Fault shall remain as my #1 VN experience.
Great work!
Mediocre and plain. The game suffers from an improperly allocated development time and resources, leading to a disjointed and uninteresting plot. The story still has a lot of cute and entertaining elements to it, but it is hard to get invested in it. Fault - Milestone One could perhaps have been an engaging experience had considerably more attention been paid to writing quality and pacing; I would have enjoyed it much more as a 30 minute or less short story.
Summaryfault is a Science Fantasy Kinetic Novel about Selphine, a bubbly, happy-go-lucky Princess and her sharp-witted but slightly misanthropic Royal Guard Ritona.
