I’d like to see another Fight of Gods, with improved development competence, but is still happy to be an absurd, irreverent bit of fun. We need those games too, else what would we have to play by the time we got to the second bottle of wine?
Fight of Gods was never going to be a contender with the likes of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, and it shows in the ropey albeit enjoyable gameplay. However, releasing the game without key modes and features makes Fight of Gods hard to recommend.
Surprisingly good game, enjoying a lot right now, easy controls and combos, the hate for this game comes only from butthurt christians mad at jesus being represented
This game is a hidden fighting game gem on The Nintendo Switch. DONT I repeat DON'T listen to the nay sayers that gave this a game 0-4 scores. Trust me when I tell you: if you like quirky fighters like Clay Fighters , Waku Waku 7 and Pocket fighters you are going to love this game just as I do . I mean a game thay let's Santa Claus take a selfie with Jesus. Need I say more
Fight of Gods was bad on PC and it's still bad on the Switch. It looks horrific on and off the dock, controls terribly and lacks any variety in modes to keep you interested. There are a lot of good fighters already available on Switch, and this has no place among them. It’s just a bad game and there’s not much more to be said than that. Do yourself a favour and save your pennies. Avoid at all costs.
Somebody, somewhere, thought we needed an answer to the question of ‘Could Santa take Jesus in a fight?’. We didn’t, and we still don’t. With such a wealth of fighting games on Nintendo Switch – and with a port of Mortal Kombat 11 on the horizon – a cheap and poorly executed example such as this simply doesn't make the cut. Even without its questionable choice of characters, you’re much better off spending your money on one of the many other 2D fighters available on Switch.
If this game had come out in the PS2 Era, I'm confident it would have been a smash hit. The gameplay is solid, the roster is varied and a lot of attention to detail was paid with the source material. Is the game offensive? Of course. But it doesn't feel like a cheap jab at religion, it feels like a genuine attempt at a quality fighting game, that just happens to have Jesus and Odin as playable characters. It's not a good game by modern standards, but if you compare it to other games that match its art style and game direction that were popular at the turn of the millennium, it holds up well there.
It’s hard to understand the overall purpose of this game, is it supposed to be funny or taken as a serious fighting game? The game’s tone deaf approach to the character design and actions putrefies any positive aspects it has going for it. The stale teenage humor leaves a bad taste in your mouth. With no redeemable aspects and no incentive to play through the game after one play through, it’s hard to suggest this game to anyone, outside of maybe the religious studies majors looking for an off the wall topic to write a paper on.
An absolutely horrendous game in pretty much every way. Mystifying to think that you can get the masterpiece that is Hollow Knight for less money than this monstrosity. If you haven’t got that, put your pennies towards that instead
SummaryYour prayers have been answered! For the first time ever, gods, holy spirits and mythological characters from around the globe and throughout history will clash in an explosive 2D fighter where the entire world is at stake.
