But Galactic Assault: Prisoner of Power is certainly worth a good look for the turn-based strategy fans out there, and for those wanting something a few steps from the mainstream market.
Galactic Assault is an enjoyable game for those who like turn-based strategy games but don’t be expecting anything new in the genre.
A solid turn-based strategy game a notch above similar titles due to the game's presentation and the difficulty. Doesn't hurt that the visuals are nice and the gameplay is approachable too.
For it's user-friendly interface alone, Galactic Assault is a noteworthy entry in the genre and serves as a good starting point for anyone looking to cautiously dip a toe into war gaming. [Dec 2007, p.66]
Much like those random late night films you know nothing about before you watch them and end up enjoying, Galactic Assault is more fun that you'd expect although it never really ever comes close to being great.
The combat is enjoyable and challenging in those moments where the scripting opens up a bit, and the overall interface is economical without seeming limiting. In the end though, that's not enough to raise the game beyond just average.
There is technically nothing wrong with Galactic Assault, it just lacks so much that it quickly becomes frustrating.
