Genshin Impact is a whimsical, wondrous land dripping with unbridled charm and appeal, combining a ridiculously compelling reward loop with unfettered, continuous discovery. In this world I felt like a child visiting theme park for the first time — dazzled, mesmerized, and completely swept away. I only wish the shimmering glow wasn’t marred by a ghoulish monetization model, but that’s something I’m willing to overlook for my ticket to this fascinating realm.

During my time with Genshin Impact, I fell in love with it. After only a few hours, my thoughts about what this adventure was faded away as it truly evolves into a unique experience. There’s a fine level of detail that went into crafting this beautiful world, and you can’t help but want to see every inch of it. Although the grind and the gachas systems are present, this is a game that I will gladly return to again and again. Regardless, all of this is available for free, so nothing stops you from finding out for yourself.

Overall, in spite of things that should bring Genshin Impact down, the game is so much fun to play that the negatives are ultimately minor gripes. [...] The gameplay is smooth and simplistic, and it works great on all platforms - though I’m still not sure why the PlayStation version can’t be linked to a Mihoyo account so I could play on my phone when I’m not at home (PS Vita version please??) but it’s a small gripe to an otherwise terrific game.

Wherever it takes you, Genshin Impact is a more-than-convincing proposition, not least for those adamant on never spending a single cent in-game. The grind to get there may not always feel wholly natural or that players are genuinely being left to wander without restraint, but Genshin Impact‘s meticulous approach to environment design above all pulls through in many wonderful ways. Crafting one of the year’s more immersive and surprisingly rich open-world RPGs.

Genshin Impact is a stunning fantasy game that may be a potential revolution in the free-to-play genre.

Despite its uncanny superficial similarities to a certain popular Nintendo IP, Genshin Impact has enough personality to stand on its own, while also offering a creative combat system and an expansive world to explore.

Overall, Genshin Impact is a solid game hampered a bit by the restrictions its free-to-play model imposes. The overall production values are high, and the core gameplay is solid. In particular, the elemental interaction system is a ton of fun and gives the game a distinct personality. But while there's a lot to do, having several chunks of Genshin Impact gated off until you've reached a higher rank is an obnoxious restriction for an open-world game to have--and once you finally do see what lies in those unexplored areas, it's often a bit underwhelming. Still, it's a solid start, and I'll certainly be interested in seeing how Genshin Impact continues to evolve in future updates.

It is a really nice RPG you should try it. The Gacha system is only to get you some new characters, but they are in no way needed to enjoy the RPG experience.

If people get turned off by a Gacha system, that doesn't hinder your progression and don't see that this game is at it's base a really nice action RPG than you shouldn't value their opinion.

And the game doesn't border you with pop ups and shoves banners in your face like other gacha games, so you should view this game more like a RPG that has an optional gacha element at the side.

The game's graphics is so beautiful yet it is not that heavy on the PC's GPU. I had lots of fun despite not having a 5-star character in how many rolls already. It does get harder when you reach level 30; however, what's the fun if you can finish the game easily? I am still trying to get a 5 star character after so many rolls and I can't wait for the next update. Hopefully it comes fast before I get bored from waiting and just grinding in the game. Expand

tl;dr: it's a glorified fetch quest accompanied by an endless grind disguised as content. And it really wants all of your money.

This game swept the world with its "free-to-play" facade. You don't need to spend money to enjoy it, sure, but at the same time, you'll get locked out of playing at your own pace thanks to resin, and good luck getting your characters to a viable strength to beat the abyss thanks to its artificial difficulty. But... that really didn't affect me when I realized how insanely monotonous the gameplay is. My favorite streamer started to main this game, and it's the same thing each stream. sadge. All he does is grind and grind and fukcing grind. And he even moans about having to do it... which would be playing the game. Sounds like fun /s. He has preached that you can enjoy 100% of this game as F2P, which is utterly false and rather ironic considering that he has spent almost $10k. Yeah, really sounds like you don't need to spend money to enjoy the game to its fullest /s. But again, it's ridiculously repetitive, so it kinda just stops being fun after a day or two, which makes any money spent a complete waste in my eyes. And the fact that it has the most basic of quests like "go kill these hilichurls for me", "go get me five apples" is honestly kind of insulting to gamers. It's 2020 and people are seriously content with these generic quests? Fukc that.

However, I will praise its open world for its scenery, the game's overall aesthetic, and its music. I especially like the mountainous area, dunno what it's called. But it's still a sad excuse of a map. Open world games are supposed to have interesting locations and be full of detail, but all Genshin has to offer is a thousand hilichurl camps to slaughter. Everyone defending this garbage game seems to think that it being "F2P" justifies almost all of its flaws, but come on, miHoYo is making bank off a game with a pathetic amount of content, that being the story and an endless grind. Surely they can afford to make it tenfold better. It also baffles me that people will ask, "is a triple-A title worth my precious $60" and then everyone and their gramma goes to spend a minimum $1k on this just to get sh!t on with its garbage drop rates. Yikes. People aren't gonna stop you from spending your money how you want, but it's completely irrational to gamble hundreds let alone thousands of dollars for a single character, and keep in mind that you'll need to pull them a total of seven times to see them at full potential. AND ALSO KEEP IN MIND that new characters will come out over time, possibly with powercreep, so then you'll be even more incentivized to do this all over again. In conclusion, if you enjoy this game, get‎‏‏‎ fukced.

one more thing tho, it has spawned some gud hentai, so that's cool.

So, it's as if someone took yourSo I just installed this on PC and gave it a whirl based on the 'game of the year" accolades from Google. So, it's as if someone took your favorite game and one of the best games ever created (Breath of the Wild), directly took the unique gameplay mechanics and art style from said game but ran them through a bland filter, and was awarded $450 million dollars voluntarily by people to do so. Absolutely f****** amazing. Oh look, you can start climbing any cliff, where have I seen that exactly before. Hm that burning grass effect, where have I seen that exactly before. It is a rip-off of mechanics and art style of Zelda, but kindof a knockoff-quality version of that world, the tree/buildings etc look sortof clipart versions. The main character designs and attack animations do look very good - I'll give them that. And of course the nature of the combat is a bit different than Zelda in that you can use multiple characters/etc. I wish that was enough to forgive nonetheless borrowedness + blandness + atrociousness of everything else about it.

Hey it's totally F2P right?, Yet, all the while there is the motivation of leading people who apparently possess no willpower to decide to take $500 out of their wallet to attempt to unlock generic random characters and sword polygons. Put it this way: if the monetization wasn't immoral, it kindof shouldn't be POSSIBLE to spend $500 on make-believe swords and anime girls (that you are not guaranteed to actually get, mind you), yet that IS easily possible in this game. Because it's not a game so much as a gambling machine with pretty-ish anime wallpaper. And you paying $500 to them directly encourages them to develop and shovel out their next game which will gladly accept another $500 from the next zero-willpower guy. That's why AAA games which you just pay an upfront single, honest price of for, and get to play in their entirety sans gambling, are ultimately doomed.

It is deeply, deeply depressing that this is such a popular and profitable game. I think quality gaming is somewhat screwed if this becomes acceptable by enough people to allow predatory practices from and monetarily reward game developers who do this. All they had to do was wrap up the underlying gambling-addict practices with the borrowed aesthetic from another cherished and normally priced game. I guess we can expect the next great game "Murio" from this company, where you get to freely play a jumping plumber who hops on Koopoo's and eventually get to pay $200 of cash you have to apparently burn on gambling on getting a special fire-flower (maybe - it's gambling, no promises). Yeah, I'm bitter. I hate played this game for 30 minutes and uninstalled it. I don't respect people who voluntarily paid that much money for gambling to a company that ripped off another company's ideas and aesthetics extremely profitably.

So I guess someone could like this if they have never played Breath of the Wild and are just blissfully unaware, or are like a teenager that just has no cash and is enjoying F2P and just likes the anime style. But again, $450 million dollars profit from this b******* in 2 months = many many people are falling for the gambling. So that F2P is great in theory, but isn't remotely reality. Very much NOT free-to-play.

TLDR: The gameplay/graphics are "meh" and a rip-off of another studio's work, and the pricing/profitability motive = atrocious

For first couple hours or even longer its 9/10. Beautiful world to explore filled with things to do, great art style and voice acting and that breath of the wild vibe make this game amazing. If you play all day you should be able to hit AR 20 on first day. At that point you are still enjoying the game, new region opens up with way more verticaly and different look to it. So you go on exploring everything doing quests, using your resin (mobile energy system) that you noticed exists a while back. This will last maybe 2 more days if you play all weekend for example, at that point you will be close to AR 30. That is where ull notice that this big beautiful world starts to become less full. All the challenges you do, all chests you open they for the most part dont respawn at all. It's at that point when your further progress will be limited mostly by daily comissions which reset each day and resins. You cannot claim xp and rewards from bosses and dungeons this game has without resins. That's when you gonna play less than you used to and all these limitations will cause your score of this game to go down to around 5/10. There are still some quests and a bit of content at AR 32/34/36. Reaching that is gonna take you a week or 2 of just logging in for maybe 30-60 min per day doing comissions and using your resins. Then you maybe will want to search for some hidden chests or challenges you missed in the open world, but there will be fewer and fewer of them every day.. Once you hit 35 and eventually 40, this game is completely empty. It's going to be 20 min per day, then ull log off. Or you could pay real money for daily refreshes, which costs about $11-12 per day to do maximum allowed amount of refreshes. It makes you progress your AR ( adventure rank) about 3 times faster for a fee of $350 per mount if you were to do it every day. At that point all thats left of this game is predatory gambling for characters it takes on average hundreds of dollars to get the one you want and you need multiple copies to max their constelation making character stronger. Even if you decide to spend money on that and get lucky pulling shiny 5* star chances are you wont even have resources to level them up unless you spend even more money. AR 35-40 is when your score of this game would go down to 0/10, as you can't even play anymore. Theres no more content at that point other than predatory casino or waiting for resin and daily comission resets. This is a great single player game, it just lacks ending credits after you completed everything. As mmo in the long run, its just another mobile garbage that exists to make as much money as possible in as unethical way as possible. Oh and this online casino is rated PEGI 12 somehow. Expand
