An inventive Souls-meets-roguelike that frustrates and delights in equal measure.

Gods Will Fall is a well-focused action-oriented dungeon-crawling soulslike with procedural generation. Only the procedural generation is on the difficulty, allowing for developers Clever Beans to have handcrafted each dungeon in a stunning hand-brushed art style and have each playthrough feel that bit different, as the increased difficulty of a particular dungeon brings new creatures, paths, and opportunities. While not perfect, some things like the rather barren overworld as well as some bugs standing out, the character development, emergent storytelling and tight combat does more than enough to let this stand out.

Combat is impressively muscular for a game that presents like a top-down dungeon crawler. [Issue#356, p.102]

Gods Will Fall has terrific gameplay ideas, but the graphics and some technical hiccups hold back its quality.

Gods Will Fall is a fresh and original new approach on action RPG and roguelite genres, but after a few hours it becomes too repetitive. However, the first steps are surprising and visually convinces with a very personal artistic design.

Gods Will Fall is steeped in good ideas, but would have gained a lot by taking them further. Equipped with an effective artistic direction, unique bosses and dungeons, and a link mechanic that works, the game manages to make us want to play and replay in order to meet the proposed challenge, and manage to defeat the ten deities present. The proposed experience is therefore pleasant, and the studio really holds something. Sadly, Gods Will Fall constantly seems on restraint, leaving a lingering impression of superficiality and repetitiveness.

Gods Will Fall has some striking visuals and the randomly-generated characters with their varied stories and abilities are great, but the frustrating, sloggy combat, repetitive nature of play, and the lack of any sort of exploration or value in the hub area is disappointing. The developers have already released a road map for more content in the future, but let’s hope they polish the combat first.

A really nice concept, but execution needs heavy tweaks.
It ranges from being completely impossible with one character to no challenge at all, with another, on different levels and the way the game indicates which characters should take on the level completely ignores which character will be easiest to do so.
There's also a very poor dodge/parry system, which some enemies can just ignore and cut through, which makes the difficulty seem arbitrary rather than based on skill.
Right now I can see there's a good game hidden in there, but it needs play-testing and tweaking for a few months before it is releasable. This feels like an early beta build, not a finished game.

The game has low poly graphics but doesn't optimized. I can't skip the tutorial! And finally, this is slow and boring grind game. Meh.

Visually okay. Unique story. Its input delay, clunky controls, and lack of combat options makes this game bottom-line shake my head and a hard pass.

I'm gonna be real with this game; It's awful.
I mean horrendous, mostly for the combat. Combat is repetitious, other games in the souls-like genre even with minimal controls make every enemy feel different, in this game they're all reskins other than around five enemies called "creatures." The primary reason behind this is parrying and dodging which seem to be nearly nonfunctional other than for characters with a specific skill. The premise is you dodge towards an enemy just before the impact a feature similar in many other games. In this games case your just move towards them and stand there as you take a blow.

In addition to this stark problem there's the randomly generated difficulty meaning if you happen to get all fighters with dual wield weapons and high speed you win the game instantly, as all other types of warriors are useless as they're too slow to get hits in on most of the enemies.

The game is also fairly overpriced for the little content in the game, once you play one dungeon you've seen the entire game. Everything after is simply the same thing with a different theme.

Overall it's a tragic game, the concept behind it is fun and kept me hooked enough to beat the game but the clunky combat left a sour taste in my mouth.
