Feb 10, 2018The only redeeming quality it has is atmosphere. Nothing else. Controls were made by someone who has never touched keyboard or mouse. Combat was designed by someone who probably wanted people to suffer (nice work, Satan). And people seem to like it because they forced themselves to it.

Aug 19, 2010I spent about an hour and a half on this and gave up. The nonsensical control scheme and awkwardness of movement are absolutely game breaking. I heard it's supposed to have some good qualities, but I couldn't even get to them.

Dec 25, 2020Im big fan of RPGs and this is the holy grail of them (Gothic I + Gothic II). Great story, great world, great combat system (melee as well as ranged and magic too), great mysterious and adventurous atmosphere, great leveling/improving system, great thing is limited number of weapons (like about 30 of every kind, not thousands like in Skyrim, which you cant remember).

Jun 15, 2021Totally unplayable game. The graphics even at the time od premiere were awful, combat and whole controls are the worst i met in any game. The story and voice acting are okay so it's better to watch this game instead of playing IT.

With a novel, large and intricate set of societies, coupled with excellent graphics and sound, Gothic becomes one of the most immersive and believable single-play adventure/RPGs ever.
-
The 3D engine looks unbelievably good! The surroundings are impeccable, and bear a surreal and depressive atmosphere. All the objects and buildings look just as great.
-
Decent graphics and a well-developed storyline. It also has a great amount of replayability, as each time through the game could yield different experiences with different choices.
