    I just can't believe that users are giving this game a low rating. Yes there are some bugs with getting the game running on your pc. Yes it comes with an intrusive and slow game launcher. Yes it forces you to use games for Windows Live. Does it have high minimum specs to play at a smooth frame rate? Sure does. Are these issues a major pain in the butt? Sure they are. But none of I just can't believe that users are giving this game a low rating. Yes there are some bugs with getting the game running on your pc. Yes it comes with an intrusive and slow game launcher. Yes it forces you to use games for Windows Live. Does it have high minimum specs to play at a smooth frame rate? Sure does. Are these issues a major pain in the butt? Sure they are. But none of those issues changes the fact that this is one of the best games ever to come to a PC. If you are looking for a PC game for the holiday season - this is it. Period. This game is incredible, it offers dozens of hours of gameplay - and because of its scalability, it will look even more incredible on your next PC. It would be a shame if someone didnt buy this game because of all the whiners taking out their frustation by giving it a low score. If you are smart enough to read and know how to use google- you should be able to get this game running in a few minutes without any problems. One of the best games I have ever played on the PC. Right up there with Bioshock, Half Life series, Crysis, and Doom series. Just buy it now and be happy.… Expand

    I'm giving this game a ten, because it needs it. Many people are giving it 0s because they're too stupid to check system requirements before they buy. GTA 4 is a stunning game. Liberty city is probably the most realistic city ever realized. Many people are complaining about the city being too realistic, that really isnt so true. You can turn your phone on snooze, if you dont want any annoying calls and want to just have fun in the city. You can skip any driving by taking a cab (and if you're too stingy you can call Roman.) But overall, the great thing about the city is that its so alive. You can take a break from all of the carjacking for comedy, minigames, anything. The controls aren't that hard once you get used to them, and adds some extra challenge to driving. Overall, GTA 4 is a fantastic game.… Expand

    This is a very great game,I recommend this game to those who like a open world action game. I was a little disappointed on how you could not mod your car or play some b-ball like in GTA San Andreas.But the city feels alive I also love the the story line.

    4.2... How is that? Is it all the lame "It's a port" rubbish again? This game was, is and forever will be a great game. I love everything about it. From the gameplay to the graphics and physics; everything about this game is as close to perfect one can get.

    GTA IV is one of the best games of all time! Despite all the technical issues on PC, you cannot help believe the fact that its a great experience. The free-aim with the mouse, ability to play your own music, better graphics and numerous other advantages makes the PC version superior to console. Eat your heart out 360 and PS3!

    The best Game I ever seen for PC Don't mind with the other people that says that is crap or something, if you have a powerful PC with a good VGA you will be amazed with the game! PS: GTA IV uses much CPU Power because it uses the Euphoria engine that uses more CPU power to physics.

    I really don't understand why so many people hate the PC version of GTAIV. I still have an 8800 GT (which is obsolete) and I can still run the game on graphics high enough that the game doesn't look terrible. I bought the game off Steam, so I can install the game as many times as I need to.     OH NO THIS GAME DOESN'T RUN ON MY 4 YEAR OLD LAPTOP! 0 STARS because micro$ucks is gay and hates us all the the illuminatii will take over the world if you bye this game also I think that the world will end in 2012 and also Deus Ex IW was a good game. So 0 stars for this one.

    One of the best games I have ever played. Worked well for me with a slightly under par CPU AMD64 4400 which was my 20-25 ish FPS bottleneck (9800 GTX+ graphics). Only had an occassional lock up (always within the scripted sequences and never whilst driving etc). Registering Games for Windows and Rockstar Club - a relatively minor inconvenience. I have since re-installed upon a higher specOne of the best games I have ever played.     I don't see why people hate this game, good graphics, and I can even play it on my laptop which has a GeForce 9200M chip in it and it plays fine, i also have this on PS3 and i think the PC version is better. The only problem i have is that on my PC which has a GTX 260, GTA wont let me turn the graphics up any further, and i think my PC could handle a lot better graphics, but apart I don't see why people hate this game, good graphics, and I can even play it on my laptop which has a GeForce 9200M chip in it and it plays fine, i also have this on PS3 and i think the PC version is better. For real PC gamers that understand the hardware and know how to configure their systems this game is a 10 all the way. I have been playing it since it came out and i will probably still be playing it after 3 years or so when GTA 5 comes out. The DLC pack even finally came out for PC so i Best game ever! This game is a technological marvel on all accounts so OFCOURSE you will need a PC capable of running it. This is not the same game as on the consoles! The PC version looks MUCH better even on low settings( i play all high with everything MAXED OUT at HD resolutions) and the CPU power needed is immense. At least a quad is required as this game is higly multithreaded and a decent GPU (video memory is important). My only complain is the lack of Multi-GPU scaling but maybe with a better cpu the scaling would be better. Maybe a x64 bit version of the game could help boost things but perhaps it would just double the memory requirement. Anyways thank you ROCKSTAR for bringing GTA4 to the PC and doing it so that its much much better then the console version.… Expand

    Ok fools check this out...it is cheaper to buy an Xbox 360 elite and this game rather then spend over a thousand dollars on a computer that can keep up with the graphics. having said that this game rocks and pc users should just suck it up and get an xbox to play this game at an optimal level.

    I don't know why a lot of people had problems with it. It works just fine on my Hp. And on top of that, I love the game. It's one of the more mature GTA games, and I really like how Rockstar played this one out. One of my favorite games.

    One of the most anticipated games of 2008; the controls are perfect, the sound and graphics are stunning!.. the storyline is the best I've ever seen in a game so far, and its my favorite genre: free roaming, mission driven gameplay.. This game has everything I want from a game, therefor, it gets a perfect 10 from me!

Bugs are getting errored out of the game but the detail and interaction with in the city is amazing.     This is without a doubt one of the best single player games of all time, and it is even more of a certainty that it features one of the ultimate video game story-lines. The plot is so engaging, the characters instantly likeable, and the cutscenes are anything but boring. Some have mourned the loss of the arcade feel of previous games in the series, but this is stupid; yes, it was a proven formula, but the jaded realism of Rockstar's youngest child makes for a sensationally fun game. You can't have honestly played this game and not have marvelled and spent hours pushing the limits of the ridiculous physics of the game world. The graphics deserve a whole passage to themselves in my opinion: I have played Crysis, but these graphics are on a totally different scale. The incredible attention to detail, accompanied by an original visual style, especially in the facial rendering, combine to make an experience that is simply irresistible. I have an 8800GT, 4GB RAM and an e6400 o/c to 3.2Ghz, and it runs on medium-high graphical settings with no lag or other problems. If you don't have a powerful enough P.C, as I did for a long time, don't be quick to down this game. Seriously, save for an upgrade as this game is worth it. Rockstar admittedly however made a terrible decision to integrate with Windows Live, and the unavoidable Social Club. Hopefully in time these services will improve or be phased out because at the moment they are a pointless obstacle, detracting from what is otherwise a masterpiece.… Expand

Most minor issues with this PC game can be easily fixed; just search on Google and I assure you 95% of the time you'll find a fix.     As for the game itself, it's incredible. Best storyline in the GTA series, gorgeous graphics, very likeable and memorable characters, great gameplay, fun multiplayer modes, and an incredibly well-desinged city. Not to mention, the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV has some exclusive features which the consoles do not have. Such as the in-game video editor, which is amazing. It allows to take clips you've captured during gameplay and edit them. You can create a simple stunt video or an incredible machinima with it. It's a wonderful tool. Overall, I think quite a few people fail to realize just how 'big' Grand Theft Auto IV really is. I mean, there's literally thousands of recorded dialogue clips in this game just for the pedestrians. There's a ton of hilarious and well written radio station, TV, and in-game internet content. Hundreds of unique character models, props, animations, and vehicles. So, if you do have a good PC I think you should definitely give this game a try.    … Expand

No, but as far as videogame stories go, it is friggin Shakespeare. They actually get you care about the characters, and you really want to know how things turn out.     I don't see what the problem is. My computer was a relatively cheap one (purchased over 2 years ago for $1400 and the game ran perfectly. It had an amazing plot and cover based third person gameplay. The best GTA game to date.

That being said, this is still GTA, it's still every bit as fun (if not moreso) than its predecessors. The graphics are superb - a vast improvement over the last generation of GTA titles. The story is also better, and the world is generally more believable and realistic. Whats more, the control system for aircraft in this game makes them much easier to control than the PC editions of Vice City or San Andreas. There are more strip clubs, and the strippers and prostitutes are now rendered in high definition glory, LOL! Ah, the joys of GTA. That stuff aside, there is realy a terrific game here that should not be overlooked. You'll get the familiar GTA-style storyline, with a more serious flavor to it. It has nearly all of the elements that made older GTA games fun, except perhaps airplanes, airports, and businesses you can buy like in Vice City. As for the negative reviews... we all know it's just people whining about the DRM... whether it's GFWL or the social club. Yes, the game requires a modern computer to run nicely. What do you expect? The game came out in like 2008 or 2009. I always laugh at these people who are surprised their 5-year-old "gaming-laptop" can't run it nicely, so then they go to complain about the game and whine. The bottom line: make sure you have a quad-core processor, a reasonably-new video card with at least 1gb memory, and 4gb of RAM. Then get ready for a terrific new installment to the GTA series =).… Expand

    This is still an outstanding game. I'm waiting for GTA V for PC (or PS4) but the graphics, music, missions, shooting mechanics (even with controller), are just great. This is much fun to play. And the best of this game is the humor. I almost can't believe this game is already 6 years old. The satiric humor on the radio stations is still spot-on, aiming at the current western society.

    I first played this game on a crappy 2.4 single core AMD computer with 2.5 gb of DDR 1 RAM and a NVIDIA gt 220. It ran like crap, and I had to restart my computer to close it, because my computer couldn't spare the processing power. I love this game. I sunk 24 hours into it even with a terrible system. The radio stations are hilarious as all get out, and there's even cameos from famous comedians (Ricky Gervais). I don't touch the gay stuff so much, like dates, but the gunplay is well done too. The cover system is a little buggy sometimes, but it's much better on the PC than on the consoles. My only complaint was that the music on the radio sucks, but you can make your own radio station (Death and Sacred Oath rock). As for the rest of you giving it bad scores cause of your system, don't review a game if you can't run it right. It just makes the game look bad unfairly. Your system sucks, this game owns.… Expand

I love the graphics, I love the engine, I just love everything of this game.     love this game, it's a huge favorite. Runs clean on my pc. Love it on xbox 360 as well. Multiplayer greatness as well. I love the fact that there is a free roam mode for multi player. I play it via Steam with my usb xbox controller and its mapped out very well. Running it on a Geforce GTX 460

I run this game with FULL settings and have no "Herky Jerk" problems, as some have put it. This include ASx16 Full Shadows, Textures, View Distance. 1055t X6 @ 3.5, HD6850, 8gbThis game is completely awesome. In my honest opinion it easily blows the other titles out the water.     The GTA 4 is a worthy part of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. It's rather similar to Vice City than San Andreas which can make people disappointed but in my opinion it's a perfect game. Great graphics, enjoyable gameplay and a good multiplayer are contained. The system requirements are not as high as they say, they are acceptable.

The ending requires you to be a pro helicopter pilot to complete the game, something you don't have to learn anywhere else in the game to the same degree of expertise. But if you put a paper bag over its head and don't ever bother finishing the game because it's a pointless exercise in a game like this anyhow then you get to enjoy one hell of a ride. Another small negative I experienced were serious game stopping technical issues related to playing it on a dual core, you should have quad!     good game, even on pc i still find it very enjoyable compared to console, the only problem i have is with crossfire support, the game wont allow you to use dual graphics cards and thus making me change it back to use of one graphics card everytime i want to play it.

    History : 20/20 (Just huge, with a main frame has multiple choice)
    Gamplay : 18/20 (He lost some fun, but he won at realism !)

    I don't how they manage to make a game so fun like this one. Even if you end the story the game never ends. The effects and design of this game it's not at 100% mostly because of some vehicles that are not 100% functional like they used to be on GTASA, but that's mostly because it's a new engine.     The most advanced in the series to date, absolutely amazing game. Though has some optimisation issues and it took several years until the majority of PCs started to run this beast smoothly =)

    Rockstar really impressed me with this. Besides the bugs, the game is awesome. We had a 360 console for everyone and it blew up so then we all had got our own and then must of our owns blew up so now we're playing it on pc. No performance issues or any problems with the difficulty level. I have quite a GTA collection. 10/10 including all GTA games.

    Definitely a 10, the graphics are beautiful and the single player story is great and deep with great characters. I like it much more than GTA 5 with all the disappearing cars.

    I can say that this game is very high on it's requirements to run it for pc. But it is awesome for it's modding community and thats actually why I got this game. The modding community is awesome and there is very much mods that are available to download. It is just amazing how much mods it is there. The main storyline isn't bad, it has much awesome missions, but after completing them manyI can say that this game is very high on it's requirements to run it for pc.     I can't believe there are people complaining about how CPU and graphic intensive this game is. It's GTA IV. There's massive amounts of things going on. How does the fact that your PC is terrible, make this a bad game?

    Apart from all that, it had a very nice storyline, that usual GTA feel to it, loads of things going on, things to do etc. Lots of attention to detail. Great game. Enough said.

The game is fun and for me the story is somehow exiting and if you have already done the singleplayer, go on multiplayer. Bored with multiplayer?     GTA 4 doesnt offer you a lot in comparison to the predecessors. But they were perfect already, so it is difficult to put new things in it.
    The gameplay should be known and means a lot of fun and a lot of possibilities, but it is not very complex.

    The graphics and the city are perfect.
    As a result it is a great successor, but not on the same level as an art like Deus Ex.

    Many players complain about the implementation of the game and the enforcement to install many unnecessary software like Rockstar club and Microsoft live club. First: dont buy any game short after release, wait many months when it is cheaper and have some patches.     This game have some optimization problems and you may need a decent system. All performance issues at the side the game is actually very well written. Filled with character and a dark vibe the story is very well made. Gameplay can be a bit clunky but overall it's immersive and you never feel alone in this lively city.

    Awesome game. Intriguing story, awesome graphics, fun to play. Well, mybe PC port could be better (back when released only ultra-hi-end PC could run it maxed), but now game runs flawlessly for most gamers. Great modding community.

    People who give this a 1-5 have not played the game on PC. The game works with Windows 7, and over and under to a certain point, there is in fact really good graphics that your computer has to handle, in which almost every persons' computer can handle. This is a wonderful game with many perks, all say there are 'bugs' these are easter eggs. Not bugs.

    This game should be recognised as one of the all time best games for the PC. The gameplay, the new features, mainly the graphics are all superb. Mind blowing storyline, that's all i can say. I mostly loved the three leaf clover mission which u do under Packie if i am not mistaken. That was the best ever GTA mission i've ever done. That was massive climax in the game.

I have played through it many times and have found that I'm always finding new and exciting mods to use. There are currently 4,165 car mods on GTAinside.com alone, and that number grows all the time. The bug in question is the SMPA60 Unrecoverable Fault, which is caused when a mod maker does not update mesh deformation on a car model. This causes that game to crash at random times, often at checkpoints in missions. This also can lead to a corrupt save file, but can often be fixed by moving all saved cars out of their parking spaces. This bug has caused some trouble but I have no qualms with restarting my game and playing through the story again, as it is a well written, gritty, and dark story that manages to draw you in and not let you go. The humor is dark, the action intense, what more could you want? 10/10… Expand

    I love it. Legendary. Wow amazing game. 10/10. This is the best open world game franchise and this time it outdid itself. NB is now a legend because of this game. Stunning visuals, breathtaking cut scenes, awesome gameplay and the biggest map ever. The city of New York comes alive in this game like nothing I've ever seen. A work of art. Rockstar rocking.

    This is arguably the best GTA game story wise. I've never seen a story this good and connected to the character in any GTA game. Driving is bit challenging but in a fun way. The side characters are amazing just like in all other GTA games. The Episodes from Liberty City are also very good. A must play.

    This is magnificent. It's just getting bigger, better and longer every single time. GTA III was bigger and better than GTA II and now this. Rockstar Games knows how to satisfy us, they'll never disappoint us. The problem is that the rating-system can go no higher than 10. So a HUGE one from me.

    This is probably a good game. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. So all the negative reviews are from 2008-2009, yes I can understand that this is a heavy game and at that time not many had an excellent PC, that's why they are not satisfied with this game.

    The physics, the gun-play, the attention to detail, and the graphics even for today are still pretty good.

Помимо квестов, которые Вы можете выполнить за второстепенных персонажей, Вам даётся возможность сблизиться с ними при помощи дружественных посиделок. Вы можете перекусить, бухнуть, поиграть в бильярд, боулинг, дартс. И сделано это очень качественно; Вы узнаёте много нового о персонаже, и Вам на его дальнейшую судьбу будет далеко не насрать. Плюс у каждого свои история, переживания и взгляды на мир, что позволяет Нико раскрываться и самому. Пусть он и не очень приятен внешне, но по ходу повествования им очень сильно проникаешься и понимаешь, что играешь не просто за трёхмерную модельку, а за настоящего персонажа.
    Сам Либерти-Сити (прототипом которого является Нью-Йорк) очень впечатляет. Лично мне безумно нравится его архитектурное величие и тяжесть. А когда начинают идти дожди, вообще диву даешься, насколько может запасть в душу видеоигра. На этом и выстроился мой личный симбиоз к GTA IV. Я по-настоящему полюбил эту игру, этих персонажей, эту атмосферу, музыку, ливни. Игра стала мне очень родной. Конечно, я могу понять альтернативные взгляды, мол игра слишком серая, унылая, в ней мало того, что кто-то раньше полюбил; я это понимаю, но не соглашаюсь.     Как по, так это лучшая часть серии.
    Это первая гта, в которой наконец то появилась физика, которая уделывает 5 ую часть даже спустя 11 лет. Про сюжет вообще молчу, он крут. Все по взрослому . 10/10

    As a kid I never really liked GTA too much. I used to consider it a "dirty" franchise, which is a term I used for things that you'd expect your elder brother to like when you were kids. It didn't have too much colour, there are no colourful characters, there is no comedic storyline and so on. Turns out I had been thinking this way about GTA because of this very game. So after I finished GTA V last year before the pandemic started, I decided to give this game a try. I started playing this game before the pandemic, and finished it after it. Turns out this is now my favourite game in the franchise.
    I don't know why, but I think there's something about East Europeans that they can never be taken casually. And this game is something that has expanded over that. GTA IV is the only serious, grounded game in the entire GTA franchise that actually follows a grim, dark storyline of Niko Bellic, a Serbian man who has come to America to start his new life. He has nothing left back in his country other than sad memories, but in America he has the thing he needs the most in life, a new, positive hope, something his cousin Roman is giving him. But it turns out Roman had been lying to him the whole time.
    Niko saves Roman from the Russian mob he had set them upon, gets a girlfriend, meets many new friends and tries to get over his past and start life with a fresh page, except the Russian mob, the FIB and even Roman himself just won't let him be in peace. And this is the reason why this game is so good. Unlike V, San Andreas or Vice City, this one makes the plot so powerful it makes you feel both happy and sad at the same time. In every serious scene there is a subtle humour that will take away the grim tone that it gives without making the jokes look forced. The bank robbing scene, Niko killing Vlad, Niko telling his story to Roman while he dozes off - there are plenty of such scenes.
    Another thing that makes this game so metal is the tone. The colour palette looks very, very bleak in spite of not actually being so. Although I think this is because the Rockstar games made back then used to look like this (since Bully also has the same colour palette), it really suits this game's tone. The cars are also very realistic. In GTA V, every car has a very luxurious interior. Even the dump trucks have digital screens. Tell me, does such a thing happen in real life? Do cars actually look anything even close to being that good? No, right? This is what I like about this game. The cars look very filthy from the inside, just like how they are in real life.
    Speaking of cars, this game surely has a bad mechanic for driving. Personally this is the only complaint I have with this game. Steering a car feels like steering a boat. It gets even worse when it comes to driving a truck or a bus. The weapon combat, however, completely makes us for that. This is probably the only GTA game to have an even combat. In GTA V the combat is more biased in the player's favour while in GTA San Andreas the combat is more biased in the opponent's favour (depending on who the opponent is). The weapon usage is also much better in comparison to the previous games, and this was made even better in GTA V.
    Another thing I really like about this game is the music. The menu music of this game is probably the best one in existence. The loading screen also really looks like it means business, with all the characters appearing on the screen with Soviet Connection playing in the background really gives a bossy feeling to it. While driving the car I always switched to Vlodovstok to listen to Eins Zwei Drei Schicke Schicke Schweine. It was my favourite song in the whole game (do give it a listen on YouTube, it's amazing).
    GTA IV is, in simpler words, metal. It's metal from start to end, irrespective of what choices you make. It's really surprising it does not have the same reputation as GTA V or San Andreas, even though this is the highest rated game in the franchise.     When comes about the most serious plot in games — GTA IV probably could be that one. Don't get me wrong, it is still that good old GTA game, but just wrapped up in a more strong wrapper.

    Eines der besten Spiele. Es ist jedoch schade, dass Gta 4 nicht sehr gut für den Pc optimiert wurde und der Online Modus entfernt wurde.
