Though not perfect, Halo: Reach's PC port is overall well-done, and the quality should excite fans about the other Halo games coming to the platform in the future.
Отличная и трагичная история отряда. Начал знакомство с серией Halo с этой части и как же я разочаровался когда начал играть в Halo: Combat Evolved, порвался на библиотеке, ну нельзя так затягивать уровень.
Halo: Reach is clearly a must-buy for any FPS fan as it doesn't feel nor look like a 9 years old game thanks to 4K 60fps, and for 10 bucks, why linger?
Halo: Reach is probably better played on a console considering the issues encountered on PC, but they aren't enough to wreck the release. The campaign is excellent, showing why Halo is one of the most acclaimed first-person shooters. There might be some drops in the frame rate, but the gameplay is still excellent. The story is engaging, showing what it means to be a soldier in a time of peril, with the final level being incredibly memorable.
Halo: Reach has an engaging campaign and numerous multiplayer game modes to keep you pre-occupied. Unfortunately, various issues abound from technical woes and lack of options, to matchmaking problems, and it's hardly what you'd expect from the flagship FPS franchise's arrival on PCs. Like the protagonist's namesake, this effort is more of a "six" unless we see more patches down the line.
After an awful launch which they were fairly destroyed for they have recovered the package into an incredible collection of some of the best games ever made. With consistent updates the game has been well supported since they fixed it and more importantly brought it to Steam.
First Halo game and started with this. Enjoyed the gameplay, short and sharp without feeling repetitive. Great storyline setting up the rest of the series.
I'm regular PC gamer and played only one Halo game -- Halo when it was released on PC back in the days. And I would say that Halo Reach hasn't aged very well. It might have been good when first released but now it's mediocre at best. Visually the key problem here is the gamma, bleak and colorless, sure it's "serious" military drama but they could give at least some color to the nature. The story also doesn't add up to the player's experience. I've seen something like this in Spec Ops: The Line. A hardline military story of of war and heroism, bla bla, no humor apart from veteran's one-liners, all of this is damn serious, war never changes, you know. The last straw is the shooting part. Given how high the game was praised back in the day at least the shooting must be good? No. It's outright boring. All the guns are either useless junk that's good only for the "goblin" type of enemies, or something stronger but not quite delivering the punch. I won't even mention how bad the aiming is, but I let it slip, because it might be porting problem. The only good part was the vehicle and helicopter controls and maybe also this short space battle mission, too short I suppose.
All in all, the the game is mostly bad and not because of the graphics. The ancient Halo CE released back in 2001 was better in all aspects. If you bought the Master Chief collection, it might be a good idea to wait until Halo CE Anniversary comes out and not spoil your first view on this franchise.
