La Resistance has almost everything you could ever want out of a Hearts of Iron IV expansion. Numerous espionage and spying mechanics will keep you interested without getting in the way of your military conquests. Barring a few qualms, La Resistance sets the bar for future Paradox DLCs focusing on a particular gameplay concept.

A bit of an odd beast that isn’t as major as previous DLC, but still fills an important gap in WWII history.

La Résistance is an overpriced package of underwhelming mechanics and bloated focus trees. You’d do best to avoid this expansion until it goes on sale.

Not value for money. The new trees for Spain and France are good, but the spy system is clunky and has very little impact from my test gamesNot value for money. The new trees for Spain and France are good, but the spy system is clunky and has very little impact from my test games so far. Well, unless you play a superpower.
The two biggest problems still remain. The bad Italy focus tree and the atrocious AI.
I want to love this game, but every time I play, I end up quitting in frustration.

Skip this DLC unless you really want the new focus trees

This is just bad value. After one year, the HOI4 development team is just putting out far too little content. Its a shame that Paradox have a monopoly on grand strategy games now, and are in an unassailable position thanks to the Steam 20/25% commission tier that most of their games are into (whereas all other Indie competitors have to pay out 30%) because they are milking the category dry.
