Indivisible is a gorgeous game that beautifully blends genres to create an engaging, exciting experience. This is a pleasantly refreshing take on a much reproduced gaming formula.

Indivisible is extraordinary. It’s a very focused game that cuts out a lot of the fluff in RPGs. There’s no skill trees, no crafting, no mundane ‘kill 10 of this monster’ type of stuff, no weapon or armor system, and not even money to spend things on. There’s one basic currency you collect to upgrade your attack or defense. I think this works in Indivisible’s favor in an era filled with games full of massive checklists, endless progress bars, and so forth. Lab Zero has an admirable vision of where it wanted to take Indivisible; it may be a streamlined experience, but it’s a damn good one.

Indivisible takes the best of RPGs and fighting games and mixes them with a world full of secrets to find and a healthy dose of platforming goodness. While it doesn’t reach its full potential in some areas, it’s still a great time throughout.

Although it has an underwhelming story and some pacing issues, Indivisible is a great game filled with memorable characters, gorgeous visuals, entertaining combat, and fun dialogue.

Indivisible is a good surprise. Mixing RPG elements with platforming, the game does everything well, even if it can be too demanding at times.

Indivisible's inventive battle system brings the thrill of a fighting game to a JRPG-like party system but its platforming sections aren't as magical.

It’s hard to truly dislike a game that tries to meld pre-existing ideas into something new, and this is true with Indivisible. However, it’s also hard to truly enjoy a game that doesn’t fully succeed in any of its key areas, and unfortunately this also applies to Indivisible.

Mechanically and visually, the game is stellar. The characters are mostly interesting to look at and visually distinct. Narratively, the game is not very strong. The writing holds the game back considerably, making it a good game when it could have been a great game. Some of the characters can be unbearable.

But at a fundamental level, the game is incredibly fun to play and has enough depth to keep me invested for a long time in spite of its flaws.

I'm playing with a Hori Fighting Commander, and it's perfect.

Some balancing is definitely needed, but might be handled in further patches since they've been rolling them out periodically since release. I think this affects the first half of the game the most, since the gameplay is really more of the focus in those areas, but the challenge seems to plateau pretty quickly once people understand the basic mechanics. However, I will say from watching videos of other people play, I don't think a lot of people really grasp the deeper elements of the game as much as they think they do, which is where they get the impression that areas such as combat feel tedious. Right now the game doesn't punish inefficient strategies as much as it could, so you can get pretty far just by mashing, but that will result in slower fights, and a number of characters seemingly less useful if you don't know how to combine their abilities well. It's a satisfying gameplay loop at the core, but the current difficulty doesn't push you to learn it too deeply unless you want to.

The second half of the game I found really enjoyable in the narrative, and there were some satisfying platform challenges. Overall, it brought me back to the feeling I got from a lot of PS1 games, except a bit more polished in many aspects. I feel like people from that era might appreciate where the game is coming from a little better. Once a harder difficulty option is added, I think it will fill in most of the gaps for me.

also the movies and backgrounds are fantastic, but the characters look like they're drawn and animated with adobe flash... terrible, cheap style. awful.

    avoid this game.
