Kane & Lynch: Dead Men Official Trailer 1

  1. The right combination of gameplay elements and design decisions make Kane and Lynch easy to recommend to crime junkies and anyone who enjoys a little therapeutic videogame violence. A well-executed plot really makes the game, while the multiplayer additions add replay value and variety.
  2. Kane & Lynch: Dead Men could be a great game. Unfortunately it feels unfinished, and falls short of that mark.
  3. Familiar elements from Hitman are felt throughout the game. While some gamers may find this a welcomed facet, it's really disappointing that after all these years Io didn't show enough determination and creativity to bring something new to the scene of contemporary shooters.
  4. Like the protagonist Kane, it’s decent but has too many flaws for comfort.
  5. Kane & Lynch is very much a case of what could have been. With a little more time for polish and tweaking Eidos could have had a game worthy of the hype and its British Academy Video Games Award nomination (which was somehow secured before the game’s release).

IO's next big thing is a mish-mash of a few phenomenally great moments hidden inside a clusterf--- of nearly unplayable controls, bad level progression, unpredictable AI, and some seriously broken gameplay scenarios.
  7. If it had been given the proper treatment, budget, and amount of time, Kane & Lynch would have easily been an A-/90% game. As it was released, it feels like a preview build that somehow hit retail shelves.

Simply one of the best games ever made. Instead of counting all the great aspects (as almost everything about this game is awesome) I simplay Simply one of the best games ever made. Instead of counting all the great aspects (as almost everything about this game is awesome) I simplay say: The bad reception of this game shows how infantile and stupid most reviewers and players are. This is a fantastic, intense and very mature shooter (featuring one of the best soundtracks ever made) which should be considered as great and important as Max Payne. How any serious gamer can give this game a rating beneath 7 is a mystery to me. Expand

Most people who would enjoy the game probably already have it... However, if you look past the lack of polish and it's outdated elements there is a great game at the heart of it all. K&L doesn't glamorize the lifestyles of it's protagonists (which most films and games lean toward) or justify their actions, there is no silver lining.

The story itself it is the strong component that gives a positive point to the game. The way it handles a story of violence in a "Mature" direction (and well implemented) , and it does it pretty well without being to edgy or without over exaggerating the violence or subject matter (like Manhunt 2), by telling the story of two guys who were normal and end off being in bad situations and how to confront them, one being schizophrenic who feels guilty by his actions and the other guy who is cold and knows the difference of good and evil, And of course, the voice acting is pretty well and believable.
What ruin the game is the most important factor of any video game and that is it's gameplay.... my god.... it is so broken!!!!!
The shooting mechanics are the worst, with terrible aiming and beside that every single gun has terrible recoil so expect your bullets to miss frequently.
Inconsistent as hell. Some enemies will die with one shot in the head, but other will keep shooting at you even with a bullet straight in their brains, and aside of that, the enemies will never miss a shot and they can take you out way too quickly.
Friendly AI can be handle at times, they can kill enemies and heal you up, but is way to annoying that you must give them orders so they can kill someone or to move one way to another if not, they will just stand there like nothing.
The cover system is terrible too, even in cover you will still get hurt, like if walls didn't exist at all, and when enemies are in cover you will likely not hitting them, but even when they are not in cover like i said, your shots will miss anyway, again, by it's terrible shooting mechanics.
And the overall quality of the game, it looks pretty bad, even Hitman Blood Money that was developed one year before has more polish quality than this (and plays way better than this).
I think that Kane & Lynch could have been a great game, if Eidos interactive didn't rush the project, because that's what it is.... a rushed game.

Also I though it should be able to run on my PC system, but it only did when I lowered the resolutiuon and turned off AA. The Co-op that I was hoping to try is NOT possible for me as I don't have an XBOX-360 controller - and I'm NOT going to get one. The main game is a bit short, and since I can't play the coop I wan't to take it back to the store. Expand

Terrible game. The plot is horrible, the dialog is a joke and the most entertainment you get out of playing is hitting the exit button.
