Kartrider: Drift not only impresses with its stunning visuals and advanced graphic engines, but also inherits the smooth driving sensation developed over 18 years of service by its predecessor. The game offers a variety of customization options for beginners, and is available on multiple platforms. While there may be issues with an unstable network and cheating, players can still enjoy fast-paced racing on both mobile and PC.

For a full launch, I think there’s plenty of content that’ll keep you entertained. It has a strong driving model with interesting mechanics and plenty of modes to tackle alone, with a pair, or a group of mates. I find KartRider: Drift to be very addicting, seeing as I’ve put well over 50 hours into the game already, I can easily see myself putting more than double over the coming months.

KartRider: Drift is a fast-paced and fun arcade racing game with plenty of tracks of increasing difficulty, which, however, must be first unlocked. On the other hand, it is more of the same, with no real innovation compared to the genre's cornerstones, such as the Mario Kart franchise. As a free-to-play title, it is definitively worth giving it a chance, all the more so because its monetization system is solely based on cosmetic items that in no way affect the outcome of the races.

Nexon launches a challenge to Mario Kart with its kart racing arcade in a new fashion. Kartrider: Drift has a substantial package of modes and options to please a wide public, but it's still quite far away from its paradigm.

People fail to understand what makes KartRider: Drift a unique game. This isn't supposed to be a Mario Kart clone, it's supposed to be a twistPeople fail to understand what makes KartRider: Drift a unique game. This isn't supposed to be a Mario Kart clone, it's supposed to be a twist on the traditional kart racing formula. Unfortunately, most people play one hour of the item mode, say the track design is boring without even attempting the license challenges (which unlock the more complex tracks) and uninstall the game forever. I get why people think this. Mario Kart has had such a huge impact on the genre that other competitors such as Crash Team Racing and Sonic and All Stars Racing: Transformed have been blown out of the water in terms of popularity, consistency, multiplayer and recognisability. People expect a game exactly like Mario Kart and get disappointed when it is very different to it. While KartRider may have an item mode suited for more casual players (like Mario Kart), its main mode is Speed. This is very different from other games in the genre, as the target audience is aimed at hardcore players and not casual ones. Races get very heated and intense as some people have mastered the easy to learn, hard to master aspect by wisely using drifts and boosts to their advantage. This is what I like most about the game, as you actually have to concentrate and focus on your tactics in order to get the best time in each course. Also, the graphics and character expressions are the best I've ever seen in a kart racer before. Each character is so expressive and bubbly and charismatic and the graphics blend realism and a cartoony style really well with each other. The kart customisation is the best I've ever seen too; you can create whatever you want basically (though I have seen some people applying racist things onto their cars). While Nexon itself as a corporation has had quite a bad reputation over the years, it's slowly being redeemed with this game alone. They are consistently updating it and none of the microtransactions (for now at least) are predatory in any way. Good job Nexon, let's hope you make it consistent. Full Review »

A free and pretty nice Martio Kart like.
Its not a Nintendo product/kart racer, but still fun.

    The good:
The game is free and easy to get into if you've played other cart racing games.
You can customize your cart with decals and wraps
    The good:
The game is free and easy to get into if you've played other cart racing games.
You can customize your cart with decals and wraps which is fun.
Characters are cute, and there are plenty to choose from.
Matchmaking takes no time at all, once you are ready there's a game waiting for you.
The game runs smoothly without hiccups or crashes.
There's enough racing modes to keep you busy.

    The bad:
    It's still a game as a service.
The items during team races can still hurt your teammates.
On that note, some items need to be balanced.
There's not many maps, maybe 4 from what I've seen. 8 would have been perfect.
Drifting is probably the worst par about racing...and it's in the name.
Redeeming Prime Rewards is a nightmare.

Overall: it's a good free game, if you don't have a Nintendo product and want to play a kart racer, this is worth the time.
