This is an INITIAL REVIEW as the game launched on 27/8 and I haven't played it through its entirety but early indications are that is the best game I could have asked for from this project. The best. I have followed 63 project updates, over 3 years and 7 odd months since the Kickstarter launched, and this plays, handles, and looks like everything I hoped it would throughout development. The music is fun, the characters are full of energy in their design, and handle with a "poppy!" sort of fun. Nothing seems stale and while there is a slight learning curve to get into the rhythm of the game at first, the game immerses you and it clicks. Oddly, from my experience, it feels like playing a Cartoon Saloon movie, like The Secret Book of Kells but with a Paper Mario aesthetic. I can't wait to dig into it more and write up my feelings on it when I have it completed but right now it's shockingly authentic to the original artistic vision, and has fulfilled every promise it has made to me about what it would be. How many Kickstarter games can you say that about? Expand

Knights and Bikes with its clever dialogue, charming visuals and abundant bicycle part collection is a delightful experience that will definitely make anyone chuckle a little. Knights and Bikes tries its best to make even us boring adults remember what it was like to be a child with an endless imagination and does that rather well.

I played my copy with a friend, and I am quite positive

I played my copy with a friend, and I am quite positive that this game is at its best when played with someone. However, we encountered several glitches that varied in severity; player 2 sometimes could not see some harmless visual effects (e.g. a rock lighting up), but they also could not complete some puzzles without player 1's help because the essential puzzle elements did not move on their screen. This is a huge letdown and should be considered by the developers.

Otherwise Knights and Bikes is an absolute delight and definitely worth it to pick up if you've ever wanted to go on a jolly cycling trip with your friends!

There are many games trying to capture the charm of childhood but perhaps none of them does it so well as Knights and Bikes, with it's cute art style, clever story, adorable characters and witty dialogues. And it has co-op mode, that's always an advantage.

Let Demelza and Nessa take you on their great adventure, you won't be disappointed... Just don't play for too long at once, the game

Let Demelza and Nessa take you on their great adventure, you won't be disappointed... Just don't play for too long at once, the game can become a bit boring due to repetitive, chaotic fights and unrewarding exploration (unless you enjoy buying dozens of customization parts for your bike).

Anyway, it's something unique and deserves your attention... Money too ;-)

A simplistic and boring game that's just an excuse to push the usual current year propaganda that girls totally ride BMXs in mud and go on adventures and do it better than boys.

Knights and Bikes tells the tale of Demelza and Nessa as they uncover a story, battle a curse, and deal with the almost inevitable closure of Demelza's fathers business. Luckily for adventure game fans, there is a lot to love in this charming game that pays a substantial homage to some of the best coming of age adventure films of the 80s. Knights and Bikes delivers on an extraordinary experience that is hard to find these days.

Greats laughs, innocent fun, and truly stellar artwork lies in wait for anyone, of any age, who is ready to grab their virtual bike and go old-school adventuring.

It's strangely fitting that there should be moments of boredom: if the world occasionally seems too big and your destination too distant, well, isn't that what being a kid's all about? [Issue#337, p.112]
